Fair enough. You had to be close to be able to get that aspect out of it, especially since he kept his guitar and theremin quite low in the mix. When the crew tried turning it up, he turned it right back down. I liked what I heard, but left after 20 minutes to see Seun Kuti.

    1. Swedish House Mafia - Was right in front. Everyone around me singing along + lights, confetti falling over me, & the energy of the people around me made it an amazing experience.

    2. A$AP Rocky - Went to him over Radiohead & as a young hip-hop head, it was everything i'd hoped for. Validated my decision of choosing him over Radiohead. The friendly mosh pits were fun too.

    3. Dre & Snoop - So legendary, made me a proud LA native.

    4. Bon Iver - Such a surreal sound, mesmerizing

5A. Frank Ocean - I love his stuff, knowing every song by heart was cool

5B. Flux Pavilion & Dr. P - The energy at Sahara that day was unreal, and their sound (Flux specifically) is really unique & distinct compared to other dubstep artists today.

Honorable Mentions: Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Hello Seahorse, Kendrick Lamar, Porter Robinson

    In no order
Gaslamp Killer (Didn't know too much about him before but amazing set)
Flying Lotus (Can't do no wrong)
Santigold (Made me forget all about extreme heat at 3pm)
Jeff Mangum (One of the best sing-a-long shows I've ever seen)
Black Angels (So trippy and great visuals)

HM: Amon Tobin, Azealia Banks and Breakbot

    1. Swedish House Mafia: almost everyone I talked to throughout the weekend thought this was the best set by far. Surprised to see so few mentions here. I thought it was transcendent. Not even into house music, but it was such an overpowering display of music and lights. The energy throughout the crowd was insane. Will never forget this set.

    2. Frank Ocean: flawless.

    3. ASAP: kinda lost the energy after an opening twenty minutes that were just pure hip-hop perfection. Great set though.

    4. Dre and Snoop: no flow whatsoever to this set but it was a blast still.

    5. Justice: really good.

    1. Bon Iver. Didn't expect that set to be in my top 5 entering the weekend. But the beauty of what they did blew me away.
    2. The Head and the Heart. They are going to get really big, really soon. I'm talking Mumford big.
    3. Dr. Dre / Snoop. By far the most fun set of the weekend.
    4. Jeff Mangum. On the outdoor stage at the perfect time of evening. Magical.
5A. Radiohead. Expected them to be #1. Great set, but lost the crowd a bit with their reliance on mostly newer stuff.
5B. Beirut. Another beautiful set from a very talented group of musicians.

HM: Givers (another up and coming band), Fanfarlo (ditto), Childish Gambino (and I'm not even a big hip hop fan), We Are Augustines, Grouplove, At the Drive-In (would be higher if I had seen their entire set), The Hives (ditto).

HM: surprisingly Calvin Harris had a really good and fun set. I was dragged in to see him but came out better than expected.
    Four Tet - Mohawk - 3/1
    Mac Demarco - Mohawk - 4/13

    1. Alesso - Best EDM set of the entire weekend.
    2. Girl Talk - Hot, sweaty, crazy outdoor party.
    3. Jimmy Cliff - the only time I was happy to be in the sun.
    4. Dr. Dre & Snoop - met awesome people in the crowd, banger after banger, felt too short.
    5. Avicii - people gonna hate, but his lightshow was amazing, and he dropped "Save the World" better than Ingrosso or SHM. Did not like his crowd though...

Honorable Mention: Afrojack (best drops, from "Calling" to "Levels" to "NICKTIM" - blew my mind), Subfocus, Wallpaper. (best way to start the festival #stupidfacedd)

Biggest Disappointment: David Guetta (he had some cool ideas, like the old school blackout rave, but the way he dropped even his own songs was weak)

I'm surprised by the lack of Kasabian love, I only knew a couple of songs and they blew my world. Couldn't stop moving the entire set, they even had most of the crowd moving - which not many bands managed given the docile Coachella patrons
