C.B. enters room......
watcha' guys arguing about.....? (in a curious, little kid type tone)
Coachella 07 (the introduction), 08 (the bands), 09 (the documentary), 10 (the people i came with), 11 (the relationship test... we passed), 12 (whatever the weather, Dirty Epic forever), 13 (taking the good with the bad)
- PEARL JAM WHY YOU HATE COACHELLA? -
I see people throwing around names I'd love to see on the lineup but know won't be there come January... We need techno, tech house, deep house, and classic acts. I fear the tsunami of cheese that crashed over us this year will only be worse next year.
We can wish, though, can't we? All this speculation gives me a minor chub.
Off the top of my head... Knife Party, Hardwell, Dillon Francis, Tommie Trash, Basto, Nickey Romero... I don't know any more, really. Consult the Beatport top-10 on a weekly basis and there you have it. Repeats from the last few years are obviously not out of the question.
And MJA... I know. I'm feeling delusional.
I miss caring about who might be in the Sahara. Now I just look forward to who I will see in the Gobi/Mojave at night.
05-12.2
Fedde le Grand, Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Armin van Buuren, Bassnectar, and Pretty Lights are all pretty famous mainstream djs who were not there this year so I'd say they are likely for next year.
True, but who knows, look at Avicii going from complete unknown to golden boy of cheese in the the span of mere months after the release of le-seven-els. That could happen with a ton of artists that make corny music these days... Put out one song that garners massive mainstream attention and BOOM. Instant stardom+Sahara headline status.
And whos to say there won't be repeats from last year and two years ago? I mean, Afrocrap played back to back years, that does not bode well for the future.
yeah he was definitely known before levels...
Sure we'll have lots of crap to wade through on the poster in 2013. Just hoping for a return to form of sorts w/ 3-4 compelling acts.
I have a feeling that we will get an obscene amount of garbage in the Sahara next year as usual but we'll also get a bit more variety than this year. I could see said shitty names along with acts like The M Machine and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Hopefully Mr. oizo too, if he's not too busy with movies.
Alesso would be the one to repeat...
As for the other mainstream djs that are a "lock"
Pretty lights
bassnectar
hardwell
Nicky romero
skrillex
Erik prydz
deadmau5
fedde Le grand
dash berlin
armin van buuren
knife party
gareth emery
as for the alternative edm acts
squarepusher
digitalism
simian mobile disco
and one more solid big act like underworld basement jaxx or prodigy

January thru April 29th - The worst time of the year here.
Word is that Carly Rae Jepsen is headlining Sahara in 2013
If they are going to keep up the cheese, just go for broke and invite Joachim Garraud back. Sandstorm and alien masks for all.
Modeselektor posted the following message on facebook, today:
"moderat ..."
If the album wraps in time I'd think they're a decent bet.
I really don't think this would be bad at all, especially in comparison to this past year. Of course I do like EDM and can handle a couple cheese sets as long as they're danceable. I would love for Armin, A&B, W&W, Gareth, Ferry, Arty, even ATB but there really hasn't been any trance at Coachella for the past 2 years unless you count Paul van Dyk or Sasha. Quite frankly I think GV should be booking a lot more trance; it's better than Afrowack and Aoki (please, God, do not let him headline). Trance acts like Tritonal, Mat Zo, Super8 & Tab, and Gareth Emery would be killer. Pretty Lights and Bassnectar give good variation from the typical house set. Throw in SMD and maybe Underworld and I think you have a solid electronic lineup.
