OFFICIAL PEARL JAM 2013 THREAD

I would throw down $20 that they'll be there next year. Not $100...but $20. For starters, they've never played and they're aiming to release an album next year. Second, lots of you know they played the first concert on the polo fields back in 1993. That was sort of a precursor to Coachella in itself. Anyway 2013 will mark 20 years since that event and I can't think of a better time for them to return. So I'd like to see this happen.

FYI I'm not even a huge Pearl Jam fan, they just seem like one of the few obvious names that haven't headlined yet. I'd prefer to see them on the lineup instead of, say, Green Day or Gaga.

My screen name can't make it any more obvious how much I support this. I would go to both weekends if this happened. I have seen them in Phoenix, LA, Santa Barbara, NYC and Universal City plus EV solo in LA and Long Beach, but all of those would be topped by seeing them on the Polo Field. And please, nobody throw any shoes at the band this time.

In the CAMP magazine they handed out to campers at this years Coachella there was an article with the history of Coachella, which mentioned Pearl Jam's first concert on the Polo Fields and how it started the ball rolling for Coachella.

Good show! I was at that one, too.

I have seen them 17 times (plus on Letterman once), and there really was only 1 show I walked away disappointed (LA I in 2006 - when they repeated the San Diego setlist the day before almost song for song. They never do that, so that was a big letdown). Regardless of how lackluster their new music may be (Backspacer and the absolutely horrible Ole), they are still a force live.

Haha I really liked "Backspacer". I picked it up on the strength of "The Fixer" and it came with a couple bootleg downloads so i was able to dig into their back catalog more than I ever had before.

I was at that LA 1 show in 2006 as well. I didn't mind the set since I didn't go to SD, especially since they kept Crown of Thorns and that was my first time hearing it live. LA 2 in 2006 definitely had the better set, but LA 1 had the better crowd energy I thought.

But my all-time favorite live PJ moment is definitely when they started playing the first notes of All Those Yesterdays in 2009. That's also my favorite set since for a few years I had a dream setlist playlist on my iPod that started with Long Road, Breakerfall, Animal and Hail, Hail. I was one song away from getting exactly that. Also on that dream set playlist was Nothingman, Alone and a few others played that night. Such a great show.

This talk about past shows is just making me want them at Coachella even more.

I saw them open up for the Rolling Stones in 1998, and at Bridge School Benefit in 1996 & 1999.

Long overdue to see them again. I love all their European live recordings.

To go with PJ headlining, they should get the Beach Boys to sub under them. What a show last night in Tucson. Two hours and 43 songs total. Of course they would have to cut that down, but it would be so good before PJ. EV should try to flex some muscle to make it happen if GV contacts them about headlining. I know he would love it being the big Beach Boys fan that he is.
