Would you find it odd if next year's headliners were Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and the original line-up of the Smashing Pumpkins or Soundgarden? (Assuming that NIN had a new album to promote & that was to be the kick-off to the Smashing Pumpkins or Soundgarden reunion tour.) This is what I was getting at, more than just the fact that there are people who would want to see both Radiohead & Dr. Dre/Snoop Dogg. Would Pearl Jam be lumped into that same group of acts, or are they not really considered heavy enough?

This is exactly why I wouldn't lump Pearl Jam in with the others. They're not heavy enough to be included. They really don't have much in common with those other bands, aside from the fact that they were all active and popular in the 90's.

Most/All of the prior Coachellla headliners couldn't. Stones don't "need" Coachella and Coachella has no reason to pay them what a "50k people show at Anaheim Stadium" would on their own. Why even bother? They wouldn't. Same for U2.

He played cause he had a huge financial incentive to play and for ego. GV would have to bill the rolling stones for roughly 10 million for both weekends. And even though GV doesn't have to do it cuz coachella will sell out regardless, They would do it for ego alone. What other American music festival could claim that they've had Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, and the Rolling Stones headline?
