Why? They're going to start doing live shows again in 2013.

I highly support the Danny Byrd request. If ever there was dnb that would get a regular crowd up and happy, it is Mr. Byrd.

Wouldn't you say Rob and Gareth are more focused on their Knife Party project for the time being?

Well I guess 1/3 of this dream is dead now.

In heartbreaking news for drum and bass fans, Perth outfit Pendulum are no more, according to vocalist Rob Swire.

In an interview with Triple J, Swire said he and fellow member Gareth McGrillen would no longer perform as part of Pendulum, instead focusing solely on their electro-step side project Knife Party.

Pendulum formed in 2002 and became a huge success both in Australia and overseas with their drum and bass, metal crossover style. In early 2011, Swire and McGrillen created Knife Party and have released two acclaimed EPs as well as just wrapping up the Electric Daisy Carnival festival in Las Vegas last week.
Here's what Swire had to say to Triple J's Linda Marigliano:

"I guess we'd been doing Pendulum for ten years and that's a pretty long time to be doing anything I guess. We were still playing tracks like 'Blood Sugar' that we made when we were 18 or 19. To still be doing that 10 years later, it just felt like time to do something else.

I don't know if we've outgrown it because it just evolved into something else in the end. But it was time for something new and the music scene itself had changed. Rock bands are having a pretty hard time at the moment and we weren't a rock band but with Pendulum we had the band format. We just decided that in 2012 it was time to put that down for a bit.

The Knife Party thing is going so well we don't really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon. We're having too much fun with this project. It's also great because Pendulum towards the end sort of felt like we were doing it because we had to and that's never a fun way to do music. Whereas Knife Party is pretty much solely us doing what we want to and if no one likes it we don't care."

Swire also broke the news on his personal twitter account, stating "There will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013."

Even if you're not a fan of pendulum, you have to admit they're superior in every way to knife party. The world does not need another skrillexesque electrodub group spitting out gimmicky crap like facebook friends.

That being said, I'm pretty bummed I never got to see pendulum play live

Dubstep is so tired and anyone jumping on that bandwagon is merely selling out at this point. Blehck.
