What Act Surprised You the Most?

Death Grips. I knew they'd be great, but I did NOT expect them to throw down the best set of the weekend. That was some crazy shit.

Yeah I had never heard of Death Grips before Coachella, and their set blew me away.

Top 3 surprises (in no specific order): Ximena Sarinana , The Rapture (whooped ass) , and The Growlers !

Went first weekend -

1) Girls - the back-up singer at the end of Vomit came out and did the vocal runs, the whole over the top gospel thing, and it was beautiful. Not sure if the lead singer was into it - was hard to tell. But it made that song very emotional.

2) Santigold - She KILLED it. It's been awhile and I wasn't sure if she was going to be a one album wonder artist but her live set was amazing!!

3) Azeilia Banks - 30 minutes of heaven. She needs to keep her indie roots and not go too mainstream. When she sang firestarter I knew I was in for the ride.

4) Jimmy Cliff - the weather was baaaad on Friday, don't care what anyone says, it was bad but he made it feel sunny. And for a guy in his 60s he has more energy than me. He rocks.

5) Radiohead - never had seen them live. Now I "get" it.

Neon Indian just because of how much more awesome he's become live compared to 2010.

Tuneyards because of how she sets up the loops so well and her voice is soooooo amazing.

Real Estate. They are mesmerizing and are always in this little jam its pretty cool.

The Weeknd. Never thought he would hit harder then he already does on record. So badass.

fIREHOSE. The three of them are so in sync with each other and they just do what they do so well.

Weekend 2:

M83, St. Vincent, Porter Robinson.

In a bad way: Neon Indian. Most disappointing act of the weekend.

Feist, Justice, the Hives, and Santigold were way more fun than I expected them to be! The latter three just made Sunday at the main stage amaaaaazing
