And were they good?
I'm assuming they were but I'm suprised I haven't seen any talk about there show after W1

One of my favorite sets of the weekend.

Big Boi/Killer Mike - 5/20 - Rialto Theatre
The Black Angels - 5/22 - Hotel Congress
Devo - 5/24 - Rialto Theatre
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - 5/30 - Rialto Theatre
Headed over after the Black Keys and chilled in the back of the tent. The were good I wish I had caught more but the end of the Black Keys was pretty awesome.
They were very good. Small crowd.

This. They fucking killed it. I wish I was on more drugs during their set. They were fucking me up without them though... Seriously great, I will never miss these guys when they're near me.
My perfect blend of psychedelic-blues-garage-punk-noise. Oh and they have a dude who MURDERS the sitar. Which is all that really counts in the world anyway.
5/12 - Acid Mothers Temple - Casbah
5/13 OoOoOo - Soda Bar
5/19 Black Angels / Hanni El Khatib - Belly Up
5/29 Junip - Troubadour
5/30 John Talabot - Echoplex
6/2 Bjork - Hollywood Palladium
well fuck yeah, I'm glad they did well.
What can i expect for a tracklist? Mix of all albums? Or are they just playing a lot of Phosphene Dream material?
...
I was also wondering the same - so amazing. I know the singer mostly from UNKLE records, but have a couple Black Angels records as well. Their live show blew. me. away. A must see.
Most of the band was standing next to us during Radiohead and high fives were given all around.
I the fuck saw them. I had no idea who they were, never heard of them, and didn't have anything else important going on, so we said what the hell.
My boyfriend told me they would be like Brian Jonestown Massacre.
I think he was right.
I am so glad I heard/saw this set, it was damn psychedelic.
Did you see that huge Sitar...?
The first song blew my mind on the broadcast, it was so loud and clear, which is important to me. Had to immediately stop watching and plan on being there on Friday.
Loud. Sitar.
All I need.

Surprisingly their set wasn't Phosphene Dream heavy. They played a new song. It was definitely one of my favourite sets of the weekend.
the webcast was fantastic

ugh pissed i missed it. is there a webcast rip?
The sound for their set blew... outright terrible. I've seen them 3 or 4 times and the sound for this show was the worst I've seen. It was a big reverberating mess. At first I thought it was the band because that's kind of their style, but it was double the reverb one would expect from them. The low frequencies just bled and warbled into each other.
The sound for The Horrors, who followed, sucked too. It still wasn't good the next night when I saw St. Vincent in the Gobi tent.
Coachella should explain, admit and apologize for the Gobi experience last weekend.
one of the bests sets of the entire weekend. and i only listened to their music for the first time two days before heading to coachella. good move by me.
I saw them last night in Solana Beach and the drummer wasn't happy about the set either, compared to last night at the Belly Up the sound did blow last weekend but the energy was still outstanding.
I was leaning on the rail in front of the sound board for The Black Angels and was about 15 feet closer to the stage for The Horrors. For St Vincent I was about 20 ft to the right of the sound board.
My friends noticed it too. I think that some people just may have more discerning ears, and I don't mean to be cocky or condescending. Some people notice things that others don't.
I think the sound at the Fox Theater in Oakland stinks and have heard from several people that they agree. Yet you'll always find plenty of people who think it was the best thing ever.
hi amy... fellow cw texturite, right? i probably average 30 shows a year, and have played in bands before so i'm definitely aware of the different sound qualities in venues and locations

and i saw them with The Horrors in sf on tues night and the sound was much improved. the keys were a bit louder than i expected but how many people notice that sort of stuff?
and both bands played with a lot of energy and were solid both times. my criticisms are not of the bands or their performance. only the sound in the gobi.

Such a great set. Week 2 attendees would be wise to not miss them.
One of the best sets of the weekend for me.
at 3:40 in this video there is a little nugget for those who were wishing to here Radiohead play the National Anthem like myself.
