    Default 2012 Moshing?

I'm going Weekend 2 and I'm pretty into a lot of the punk bands playing. I want to know how the pits were and who had them just because I feel like some of the bands deserve to have some pretty wild ones. I'm specifically curious about Refused and At The Drive In, but Buzzcocks, Madness, The Hives, Death Grips, and Atari Teenage Riot as well. Just share your experiences!

The Bon Iver pit was downright nasty.

Refused was by far the most intense in terms of moshing. I was near the front and multiple circle pits opened up. Some guy did a flying kick into my ribs, and I got table-topped so I fell to the ground during New Noise (thankfully someone helped me up instantly). IT was awesome

I'm really glad to hear this, not about you getting kicked in the ribs, but them being intense because it didn't look all to insane from the livestream and I was a bit worried. They're my top band for the weekend so I'll really be looking forward to this.

At the Drive In didn't really have a pit it seemed like because a lot of people were waiting through their set that weren't there for them. Maybe I just didn't see it though.

I was worried about that, that's a huge bummer. They deserve the main stage but it just wasn't made for bands like them. They deserve a more energetic crowd on the Outdoor or something.

At the Drive In is completely against moshing, they hate it, and they'll even stop a show if it happens.

Madness had a fun and big skank pit. Fun is the operative term here, you can take a tall twelve year old into it and not worry about him; there was a little romance during "It Must Be Love". Hasslehoff came in for "Night Boat to Cairo" and started a nutty train.
Black Lips had a solid mosh going, it was literally about half the size of the crowd, the barrier was rushed during "Bad Kids". I was too drained to really jump in for this one early Saturday. I imagine Gogol Bordello's set last year is a good comparison, especially considering how much hotter it will be for weekend 2.
Hardest mosh for me over the weekend was actually Flying Lotus, it wasn't always consistent but it was the most violent and quick to get out of control. We were constantly under assault by crowd surfing young black rappers and wild blows were being thrown. Unfortunately, I had to get my friend out of there so I apologize to anybody I pushed through to get her to a safe spot.

Flying Lotus? That's the most surprising thing I've heard, or you're screwing with me haha

I vouch for this as well, the crowd was just PUMPED. The most I was tossed around, hit and jostled all weekend. It was amazing but I nearly had to leave as my girlfriend was a pinball in there. During the final song the moshing got insane.

That was the weirdest part of the weekend. I said in another thread, I am all for mosh pits, but at Flying Lotus show? Thats almost as ridiculous as the moshpit that broke around me when I went to see The Pharcyde.
    G-funk acquired, thank you Coachella

I forgot there was a pit at TJ Panthers! I loved their set. I hope they do well for themselves.

Refused had an awesome pit! Good crowd that had a lot of fun but still helped each other out if shit went down. Personally my biggest disappointment was The Hives because of the main singers banter. I guess a lot of people like that shit, but it cut into his set time and was extremely fucking annoying. I felt bad for his band because he didn't give them any credit. Just kept asking "DO YOU LOVE ME COACHELLA?" to a very (what seemed to me) annoyed crowd.

At the Drive-In was less of a mosh pit and more of a crazy swaying crowd (at least in the front). Instead of circles spreading out, people were just shoving everyone that they could. The four people I was with all had to be carried out due to severe dehydration.

Refused pit was legit. I apologize to any for my spin kicks that connected, but that's the game. Thanks to all who participated.
