Only theft I witnessed last year was a group of people being arrested after breaking into a couple cars - they didn't have wristbands; they snuck into the camp area. Other than that, people are cool. But still, lock up any valuables in your car (if you bring them) - drunk minds can do stupid things.

I've camped each of the four years that I've gone and have never had any issues. It's possible I'm just lucky, but from my experience, it's not much of an issue. Just make sure you lock anything of any real value in your car instead of leaving it in your tent when you head into the festival.

When you get this many ppl altogether in a confined space, there will always be opportunistic thievery going on. Get to know who your neighbors are right away. Don't leave your shit out in the open or even visible inside your tent or car. That just invites these idiots into your campsite. It doesn't take much brains or force to break a car window or get into a tent (lemme see....how does this zipper thing work again?). Be smart & if you see someone sketchy sneaking around, confront them or your car/tent may be the next one on their list...

That sounds familiar, as our dumb neighbors just left their beer out and while inviting everybody and their mom to come party with them, some sneeky folks snatched their brew WHILE EVERYONE WAS STILL AROUND. Drama ensued. Pretty sneaky, although stealing cheap crap beer isn't much of an accomplishment.

Like it's been said earlier, lock up your valuables in your car, as well as your cooler/food stuffs when you are not around your site.

it's a public event; things will get stolen (not yours, just in general).

don't leave anything you'd really be fucked without (wallet, keys, etc) in your tent or in the open. hide it inside your car or keep it on your person. i've never had anything stolen and only once was anything stolen from our group in general and it was something against the rules anyway so what can you do (really killed the mood though).

There is no room in this world for a thief. Since it is against the law for me to lay them out on the ground, slit their throat and skin them like a coyote, I do the next best thing... I rat the fuckers out....especially those who don't have a wrist band. I don't give a fuck what their story is, if you don't have a wrist band and you are inside Coachella, you are a thieving bastard. Find a cop and let them know. They'll iron it all out.

The guys next to us last year left their tent wide open every day, with iphones and laptops just sitting out for the world to see (and they were at the end of the row, where there was heavy foot traffic). Nothing got stolen. Outside of drugs and alcohol, I wouldn't expect much thievery at Coachella.

I've been to Coachella since '06 and only once there was a problem. A really drunk guy was trying to get into my tent & I pushed him down and stomped on his balls! hehehe

Just keep your valuables on your person at all times even when you go for a shower. (phone, keys,ipad, money, etc)

If you don't look after your stuff, someone else will be glad to snatch it.

Beware of the recharge tent at the camp site!!!!!! THIEVES galore will run away with your phone when you're not looking.

Ladies, do not give your phone to a random guy to make a phone call. He'll be way gone running away with it.

Saturday night into Sunday morning i lost my iPhone at that time i wasn't sure if i dropped it or left it at camp (i'm sure it was snatched by two whores from Canada who where our neighbors)

Weird story i got stopped by security, as i was retracing my steps trying to find my phone.
I got stopped and asked what I was doing, they held me up for a good amount of time and then told me i could leave. I asked the one nice looking security lady why i was stopped and she said people were breaking into camps stealing things and I matched a description. First time I ever heard that.

My sad advice is be very careful this year and from now on :/

on Saturday at about 4amish. I heard alot of car alarms go off. I was half awake and heard someone trying to open my door 2-3 times and my alarm went off. then heard another alarm from about 2-3 rows down. people were defintiely tryna get into cars.
