We have shuttle passes for Weekend 2. Was curious, did the Weekend 1 shuttles run often? Were they convenient and fast? Is taking the shuttle better than driving and parking at the event? We have passes for the Palm Springs line.

Shuttles are always great.
The only problem is the 2 mile walk loop to the shuttle pick up area at the end of the night.
Pretty rude to put people through after 12 hours of dancing.
The 3/4 lap around the shuttle area is understandable. Unless they put in a pedestrian bridge over the buses coming in and out of the lot, I can't see any other way to more efficiently queue the buses and passengers. It's a pretty impressive operation. Well done again Valley Music Travel.
If there's Coachella to be had, I'm gonna have it
I LOVE the shuttles. Each shuttle depends on the driver & the bus & the occupants. I really appreciate having a place to nap on the way home, instead of worrying about traffic.
It took an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to get from the JW Marriott to the stages. It took over an hour and a half to get back each night.
I would think putting the queue lines on the right side of the shuttle field would make more sense. That walk around the field is ridiculous.
Also, having to go through two security checkpoints is completely inefficient. As if having one overeager security guard finger my ass crack and grope my nuts isn't enough. Then all the shuttle people go clog up the line with the campers to get searched again.
Overall, the shuttles were good though. There was always a bus ready to roll and friendly people to talk to.
Wes, did you go through the ridiculous 2 security checks once trying to enter the polo grounds, or were you lucky enough to time it where you just walked through? I loved the shuttles, but felt like I was being punished and suspected as a heroin dealer every day coming through. I'm not exaggerating either...it was really bad and makes me want to rethink the shuttles for next year.
Wes, i have to tell you...you scare me! That was fast!
You are so lucky! I have to admit the only reason I know it was over 2 hours is because I was bitching via text to my mom! Part of the delay was because of stupid gals being stupid and trying to argue their way in with their contraband. You my friend got lucky because my husbands line took even longer. They really need to change something. Maybe not make us go through the camp grounds?! I don't know. I just got home and am really tired.
Yea, my line on Friday was 10 mins longer because one security guy would stand around and wait and watch the other security guy search bags before doing the body search. I suggested the guy standing around may be useful if he did body searches simultaneously to those without bags like all the other lines and he wanted no part of advice.
I agree that the body searches were invasive, but who cares. And I totally agree with you at half the delays were because of other patrons either arguing with security or just not paying attention.
Overall, I'd rate VMT an A+ on their part of the operation once again.

I was skeptical, but I ended up using them every day. A walk (to the buses) under a beautiful night sky beats sitting in traffic any day.
First time using shuttles and thought they were just great.
No waiting on either end....really didn't mind the walk at all.
Thought everyone did such a great job. Well worth $50.00!
Let me in. I have a Geezerpass.
Highly recommend using the shuttle. I've been to several Coachellas and this was my first using the shuttle system. I love the Coachella shuttle system...
Oh absolutely VMT was great! Maybe this thread was the wrong place to vent since the searches had nothing to do with them.
search felt good man
First time doing shuttles after years of either walking or biking. Have to say it was awesome to sit back and cruise home, but the long ass walk to the shuttle pickup at the end of the night does suck although at least it's well lit and safe. The comments above about security are accurate but the lesson learned is to get on an early bus - then the lines are short. Few other things:
- some shuttles are long because they go a longer distance, i.e. Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs shuttles
- next time I will go for a shorter shuttle ride (i.e. La Quinta or Tennis Gardens)
- VMT service and attention to their work is good - no issues there.
Go Green.
Coachella '05-'12
so youre saying they physically grabbed balls, touched nipples on chicks titties and stuck their fingers literally in peoples asscracks. thats what this thread seems to state. bitchin.
I had an issue with a bus driver on Route 6, Blue line, who did not want to drop me off at Homewood Suites at the end of the night. It's on the shuttle map. I had to talk him into it but made sure I got the bus number. Same thing happened to my wife later with the same guy. I was pretty furious. I emailed VMT and got a call from a supervisor the next day where I discussed my issue. He promised me that he would make sure that there would be no issues the next day.
So last night, we got on and they made Homewood Suites the first stop, which was over compensating but I'll take it. If you have a bus problem, get the bus number off the front sign - it should have some identifying GPS numbers on it - and also the name of the driver. VMT did a great job except for this one dick of a bus driver they hired. I will buy a pass next year.
Searches were inconsistent and it seemed more thorough as the festival went on instead of slacking off. Maybe it was the stabbing in Sahara but they were very, very thorough on Sunday as opposed to Friday.
Shuttle worked great again for me this year.

this was my first time with the shuttle pass after years of driving myself and I'm never going to drive myself again! i was in zone 2 (indian wells hotels) and the ride wasn't too long, the buses have their own entrance (no traffic), they run frequently (never had to wait more than 8 minutes), and u can drink in the shuttle bus. I also found the drivers friendly and i had different bus drivers each trip and none of them got lost or hit traffic. the only bummer is when its the end of the night and ur tired and sore, u have like a 15+ minutes crowded walk all the way back to the shuttle bus lot. ALSO twice i landed in a party shuttle bus with flashing lights and a stripper pole
Taking the Palm Springs line for the first time. Should I just accept that I'm royally screwed?
The Palms Springs line was fine. No long wait for busses to get there or leave. We found it pretty easy to get a taxi home from the shuttle stop. Getting a taxi there took an hr. Bring booze for the 40min drive.
I have taken the Palm Springs line for 2 years now. LOVE IT!
palm desert line worked great, except for saturday night when the bus broke down on the way back and the bus that came to rescue us 40 mins later wanted tips for taking us home. fuck that shit
other than that, no complaints at all. lol
