MP3 rips from the webcasts. Most of these should be pretty good with the exception of some skips/pauses here and there due to the stream buffering but that happened fairly infrequently. Oh and Refused ... the recording was stopped prematurely (before the encore) but then the encore was recorded and edited in at the end, so there's a weird 1 or 2 second pause there. I will upload the rest of what I have when I get a chance.

I tried to rip as many as I could (conflicts, not being home, etc happened). I have no clue if they're going to show anymore encores or any of this weekend, but I'll try to grab more if they do. i did this last year - converted and posted mp3 rips of the webcast. it was a fair amount of work.

it's *nothing* compared with the work of going and recording bootlegs on site during the show.

don't you just copy the link into the mp3 conversion software? i ripped a copy of the kasabian set last night and it was 30 seconds of work and the rest just waiting for it to finish converting the youtube rip to mp3. easy peesy.

I used audacity in real time. hit record, hit stop, edited out junk in the beginning and end, exported as an mp3, archived as rar, uploaded to mediafire. Not a whole lot of work but it did take some sort of effort and planning out with what was showing on youtube. I'm sure recording it live requires much more effort not to mention equipment. We need to devise some sort of system where everything on the webcast gets ripped and everything else gets recorded at the show. I'm not sure how recorders feel about that though. Even if something is going to get ripped, whether it be the audio or video, would you still want to go through the effort of recording it live just so you have your own copy you recorded?

Recording live is a weeee bit more difficult...$500 worth of equipment (good stuff, not shitty crap)...getting it in without getting caught...getting the settings right on your gear....placing/wearing the mics and not being seen....can't dance or bob around or talk.....then you gotta transfer, cut, convert, upload like normal. It's actually a lotta work, but I enjoyed it.

It's somewhat hard to do that; there are only a handful of recorders that i'm aware of, and the webcast list is published late and isn't exactly reliable. (Ultra's sure wasn't; they kept changing it around at the last minute).

Yeah a couple things were changed with Coachella's but I think with texting and fb a lot of sets could get recorded. I tried to get as much as I could over the weekend (even had 2 computers both recording simultaneously). I'm glad I didn't have a lot of delays or times where it just didn't work like some people but there was still a lot that I missed.

Also, I was bummed about Amon Tobin's webcast stopping 20 minutes in. WTF was that about? All they had to do was fit the stage set up to the screen and go. No need for all the cuts and alternate angles. OH and Modeselektor's zooming in and out and the fast cuts between different angles during build-ups got really annoying.

I think mostly you just can't compensate for being at a show. Shit happens. Sometimes I don't make it to the set or I'm late or I have to go to the bathroom. A lot can happen in the field.
