That, and they're very clearly disinterested in playing older songs. Even the songs from OKC that they did play kind of just seemed like they (or at least Thom) would much rather have been playing something more recent.

Because a festival set isn't just a tour date?
Their flogging of their new material would be admirable if they hadn't lost their sense of adventure and resigned themselves to these grey too-similar dirgesongs.
"All of you coachella 'regulars' have nasty boy pussies and itchy dick4's on your asses.
Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.
Fuck you all. Consider this my resignation.
Fair the well, you elitest scumbags."

Look up their setlists from this entire tour. They typically play EVERYTHING from KOL, the fact they only played 4 off of KOL is crazy. They also normally only played 1 song of OK Computer, either Karma Police or Paranoid Android, on rare occasion Lucky... you got all three.

    Quit your bitching

I think the question that begs to be asked is:

"I'm not the biggest Radiohead fan, but wouldn't mind catching some of their set because they're a cool band. I like the hits but not very familiar with their newest album. Should I stay for their entire set, enjoy some of the songs I grew up with? Or will I be slightly disappointed and have wished I ventured out to enjoy Godspeed and maybe split to Sub Focus to end the night?"

...er... for the folks going next weekend...
Just trying to get a word in.

    KoL is mostly forgettable.

surprised this is even an issue for people. radiohead the band, and everything about it, is predicated on the idea that experimentation, and doing and creating new sounds, trying something out youve never done before is THE ONLY thing to do. they've never been a nostalgia act. never will be. i mean, really, did anyone expect thom to go out there and play all the "hits" to please the crowd? Everyone can and does have their favorite radiohead era and album(s), but i highly doubt pleasing the crowd is anywhere on their agenda in terms of anything they do.

The best live shows are when a band is having a great time on stage, not when they are playing any particular songs. Go listen to the album in your car if you don't like the setlist. Otherwise, just watch the show. No band should be treated like a jukebox.

I'm not a Radiohead guy but that was one of the most fantastic things I've ever seen. Best of the weekend by miles, in the all time Top 5 for me. Didn't care what they played, only recognized a third of it anyways.

We can all keep bitching about Radiohead or defending them but the statement above is the truth no matter what.

I was wondering how they ever ended up so popular but then I realized Air Supply and Yanni are also popular with some people.

I'm not one to openly flame a band or the fans that enjoy said band, but I AM happy to see that I am not alone in my utter lack of "understanding" Radiohead.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed Pablo Honey and The Bends way back when they came out.

Truth. If your favorite album of theirs is Pablo Honey, then yeah you're not gettin' it. Haha. The Bends is great, I enjoy it (despite the HORRIBLE track High and Dry). Not my favorite, but it's in the middle somewhere. I'd put it on par with KOTL.

    Agreed. Kind of my point.
I didn't know that Pablo Honey carried such stigma.

Pablo Honey had Creep and Anyone Could Play Guitar... that's pretty much it. But most band's first albums are just whatever

The Bends was just all around brilliant. Check out Virgin's list of top 1000 albums ever, they have the bends placed at number 2. Right after The Beatles' Revolver, but just before Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. A bit of an exaggeration IMO to put it there, but it was an amazing album

The Bends ties for 3rd favorite with In Rainbows for me

No but see, shapeless kraut rock grooves that go on interminably without ever presenting an argument for their own existence are the very apex of musical innovation.
They must be. Because Radiohead. And Can. And.....

Not so much stigma, just that it really isn't really representative of Radiohead's music at all.

Oh come on, Radiohead write fairly catchy pop songs (that admittedly can take a few listens to really uncover) to bolster their more outre ambitions. Which is why they're fucking huge and headlining fests and arenas and not playing low rent noise fests.

i agree with this. i was expecting a lot of KoL & IR, so i wasn't too shocked to not see the bends or pablo honey. i love IR, but the songs they played definitely weren't even the best ones from that album. thom looks kind of like an idiot dancing around like that. he looked like he should have been in the sahara tent.

i rank radiohead '12 with gorillaz in '10 as being incredibly underwhelming/disappointing headliners for bands i loved so much.
