Austin City Limits 05, 06, 07, 08, 12. Lollapalooza 09, 10. Coachella 11, 12. Bonnaroo 13!
I would have to agree even though i wasn't even there lol. Back in 09 it was the best decision to catch their set and then run over to the rest of macca's set
coachella growing pains... do your research! I hope you've heard of the black angels and amon tobin....
Well you and the rest of the Kandy Kids can have fun exchanging bracelets at DJ levels
Name 10 rap acts that can play a big stage and put on a good show.
Not just have great, classic songs (as Dre and Snoop do) but put on a good show that is interesting to watch on a big stage.
I love Dre and Snoop. Dre alone has soundtracked most of my life. That doesn't mean he's gonna be able to fill the shoes that come with playing that slot and stage.

Why don't you all make like a tree and get chopped down and die. You all have been dreadfully mean to me.
I Hate you. All of you. None of you will ever get to see a womans chest meat or finger blast hott cougies like me.

Most hip hop does suck live. However, I've seen Dre and Snoop and they put on one hell of a show. Jurassic 5 too.
Last.fm
Baths - 6/25 - Hotel Congress
My Bloody Valentine - 8/13 - Austin Music Hall
Ty Segall - 8/27 - Mohawk
Gold Panda - 9/14 - Mohawk
Austin City Limits - 10/4 - 10/6 - Zilker Park
James Blake - 10/28 - Emo's
Tech N9ne (I dont even like his music)
Outkast
Snoop (w/o dre)
De La Soul
Wu-Tang (thats like 9 people right there)
Method Man w/ or w/o Redman
Odd Future
Devin the Dude
Murs
Ice Cube
The Game
Cypress Hill
Pharoah Monch
A Tribe Called Quest
Maybe not all of them can put on a great show with a big stage (whatever that means), but I know most of them do
Jay-Z puts on the best show.
Method Man is the best performer.
And then way down below there's everyone else.
And the question wasn't "who did you have a good time when you saw live" the question is about which rappers can put on more of a show than "rap and walk over here, rap and walk over there" and hardly any of the ones you listed do. Hip Hop is what like 40 years old now? And you can't list a dozen acts that put on a real live interesting stage show.
Also "but I know most of them can" doesn't really scan in the age of every show in the world getting uploaded to Youtube. So prove that The Game can handle a big stage.

I'd add Atmosphere, Mos Def and Common to that list. And where's Eminem?
Wu-Tang is very hit or miss, mostly miss.
Odd future is a shitty hipster version of Wu Tang.
Does Ice Cube still make music? Did I miss the latest Disney soundtrack or something?
And if you're going to say Outkast, you might as well say Tupac and Biggie because that's not happening.
Oh and Murs actually is pretty great live, but he would drown on the Coachella stage in under 3 songs. You'd be off to Spicy Pie.

Eminem used to put on a good live show but his performances became more boring as he got older.
Nas and Damian Marley were really good last year, but I saw Nas by himself about 9 years ago and it was the dullest hip hop performance I have ever seen.
I saw Kool Keith a few times in the late 90's and early 2000's and all of his shows were really good. Same with Aceyalone.
Matt is right on about Jurassic 5 being good live.
I agree with Dylan on Jay-Z.
And I saw Snoop perform with a live band back in 2004 and the show was surprisingly awesome.
I've seen Eminem and I loved him.
I've seen Snoop Dogg and I didn't care for him.
I've never seen Dr. Dre.
It would be OK if only Eminem showed up.
Eminem isn't the same anymore, unfortunately. I saw him in 1999 and he played the entire Slim Shady LP and two songs he released for Rawkus records. He also freestyled for about three and a half minutes straight and his entire performance had a lot of energy. His shows were like that for a couple of years.
Then I saw him in 2004 and it was night and day, in comparison. No energy, only performed like one to two verses per song and the show was very weak overall.
BTW there's nothing at all wrong with hip hop working better on record and in smaller rooms.
That's totally fine.
I just hope they have something special up their sleeve if they are darkening the other stages for this (and "Hey look, its Tha Dogg Pound" isn't special)
Based on GV's track record doing this during the Gorillaz abortion in 2010, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Sage Francis :P
Ya how I forgot to mention Jigga. Foolish mistake
He has played Coachella (2wice I believe). The time I saw him was fantastic, and there was a pretty big crowd.
Fair enough. Ice Cube doesnt make music, however I did see him at a sold out Boulder Theatre a year and a half ago, and it was really damn good. He had my boy WC with him, shit was pretty cash. OF shouldnt even be compared to Wu-Tang, but they can put on a fantastic show. They were still relativley new to the performance world at their Coachella show. I wasnt impressed, but I have seen them since. It was at a (much) smaller venue so its hard to compare, but I have heard they are getting better at performing to big crowds.
Im not denying live hip-hop musicians have a tendency to be boring. They dont have instruments to hid behind. They have to find means to entertain a crowd using just their voice. Talking into a mic isnt that cool to me. It really comes down to if you are seeing a rapper or an MC
People that have been in the game for as long as De La or Cube are still in it because they learned how to properly work a crowd. Tech N9ne is my favorite example of this. His music really sucks IMO, but damn, that guy knows how to put on a live performance. i dont even know how he does it. Ill try and post a youtube to show
The Roots. One of the best band's I've ever seen live, but they do a lot more than hiphop.
Saw Wu-Tang last year and they were pretty lethargic.
Meth and Red together are a good show. A lot of energy.
Same goes for Lupe Fiasco. He had a full band and a great show. Most songs sounded better than on his albums.
BTW this is how a hip hop show should be

Sorry just saw this. Your post is a bit loaded but I'll answer it. Of course we all have our on thoughts and ideas on who puts on a great live show and what not. I can tell you who I personally believe put on a hell of a show.
Outkast
De La Soul
Living Legends
Black Star (also Talib & Mos seperately)
Gang Starr
Wu-Tang (I was lucky enough to see all ten before ODB passed. 2004 I believe?)
Tribe Called Quest fucking killed it at RTB a few years back
The Roots
Little Brother
Jay Z
My response to MostlyMellow was because he/she gave an absolute and said rap isn't great AT ALL live. Just gotta go see some good hip hop. That will fix that opinion.
Coachella vet: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012
^ those are all acts I've seen btw

Also I feel like Vanilla Ice puts on a bomb show, I mean who else has production like this?
Actually it doesn't quite count but I saw Guru'a Jazzmatazz show in Chicago back when I went to school there and it was pretty amazing.
