# Thread: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

1. ## Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

As we are all studying and planning the set times right now........... for those that have been to Coachella, how long does it take to walk/run from each stage to the next? This would be instrumental in planning my exact schedule, down to the minute because I want to try to see all the artists I want to see. Thanks!

I am wondering specifically the time it takes to walk/run from:

Coachella Stage-->Outdoor Theater
Coachella Stage --> Mojave
Mojave-->Gobi
Gobi-->Sahara
Outdoor Theater-->Sahara
Sahara-->Coachella Stage

2. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

Coachella Stage-->Outdoor Theater - day 2-3 mins - - - night 5 min
Coachella Stage --> Mojave day 4 night 8
Mojave-->Gobi 1 min
Gobi-->Sahara - 1 min
Outdoor Theater-->Sahara 3-4 min
Sahara-->Coachella Stage 5-6min

3. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

There are many variables that play into this, such as what time of the day you are going from one to the next or how deep in a tent/stage you are located when you decide to leave. My guess, assuming you walk at a somewhat reasonable pace and don't stop for anything:

Coachella Stage-->Outdoor Theater - 2.5 minutes
Coachella Stage --> Mojave - 4 minutes
Mojave-->Gobi - 30 seconds
Gobi-->Sahara - 1.5 minutes
Outdoor Theater-->Sahara - 3 minutes
Sahara-->Coachella Stage - 5 minutes

4. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

Coachella Stage-->Outdoor Theater (next to each other 5 minutes if that long. If you are wanting a quick turnaround stand on the right side of the Coachella stage (facing the stage)
Coachella Stage --> Mojave (depending on how crowded and how packed up close to the stage you are 5 to 15 minutes, totally dependent on congestion)
Mojave-->Gobi (next door to each other, fighting the crowd is whats gonna make it longer)
Gobi-->Sahara (pretty much the same cept the Mojave is between the two, 5 minutes)
Outdoor Theater-->Sahara (10- 15 minutes)
Sahara-->Coachella Stage (10 - 15 minutes)

Remember, sometimes you feel like a salmon swimming upstream and times will lengthen as the day goes on. The stages are relatively close though and its not like you're going miles between them.
Im sure others may disagree with me but this is my experience.
Have a great Coachella.

If you're traveling at night, it could easily take twice as long.

true

9. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

its a clusterfuck, 15 minutes max from sahara to the main stage which i think are the furthest apart

10. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

How long does it take going from stage to stage when you have drunk too much alcohol and are holding a gyro whilst leaving a trail of salad from stage to stage?

counting in stumble factor, loss of vision, stopping to check out the hot girls, stopping to say, 'dude, you fucking see that!?!', looking for your friend in the dark because you lost him while you were staring off into space - even though you were 2 feet apart....about an hour or two.

It takes Usain Bolt less than a blink of an eye.

But Stephen Hawking has major challenges going from the Sahara to the Main Stage.

bingo - does not work

you can try - but you'll come to the same conclusion - find a set and stay there...trying to jump midset to another midset doesn't work

I'm the opposite of this, unless it's a band that's a major favorite of mine I do a lot of ADD-riddled jumping from set to set. Watch 12 minutes of a set and be like "I WONDER WHAT"S UP IN THE SAHARA RIGHT NOW ZOOOOMMM" and then UNCH UNCH UNCH UNCH BOOM TSK "this is lame, hey is that some sort of world beat shit happening in the gobi" ZOOOOOOM. I'm kind of a kid in a candy store, there's so much music, I need to see it ALL

I will agree that what doesn't work is trying to plan around jumping from set to set. You have to either plan it out and stay at a set or just let the hyper festival atmosphere sink and stop caring and go where instinct leads you. Otherwise you will stress the hell out of yourself going "Okay, I have exactly 7 minutes here, then if I run to the Sahara I can catch 10 minutes of whoever before sprinting over the Mojave and bulling my way in to catch the last 3 minutes of that show..."

ive seen a race from the Sahara to the outdoor stage done in like a minute
then again we were sprinting
and screaming at the top of our lungs

Very true. i was high as fuck on Saturday of last year and it must have taken me 25 minutes to get to the main stage from the Sahara at like 9pm, wading through the crowds. I remember it felt like i was in front of the Mojave for an eternity. I would stop to rest, then look over, and I'm like, "I'M STILL IN FRONT OF THE MOJAVE?!?!"

18. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

^ This happened to me Friday night in 2010. Being considerably intoxicated, it was taking me to so long to get through the crowd that I ended up in the Gobi thinking it was the Sahara. It worked out because I saw Fever Ray instead of Deadmau5. Don't do drugs kids

19. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

The worst was 2010 because of how overcrowded it was. It took FOREVER to get anywhere and it was super frustrating since you had to push through a crowd all the time.

I was there in 2010 but not last year. They expanded the grounds last year right? I read in a thread somewhere that they added 8 football fields worth of extra space. Does this mean the stages are further apart? One complaint I always had was the the Main Stage and Outdoor Theater were so close together that there was some pretty major sound bleed going on if you weren't super close to the stage.

21. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

i read they have canoes going from sahara to main this year. that could take less than 2 mins if the you're going with the current.

22. ## Re: Time it takes to walk/run between all the different stages?

no matter what stage you're at or what stage you want to go to it is about a 3.5 minute walk to get there

No the stage layout area is the same - if you look at a map you can figure out where the extra space is. There is more room in front of the Sahara, Mojave, Gobi row which is nice, and I think the Do Lab is a little further back from the Outdoor.

Having been to Lollapalooza quite a few times, how does it compare to that? Is the distance from the Main to Sahara about like their North and South stages?

Is the field for the Main stage about as big as their South field?

Ok cool. Kind of a bummer, but I guess they don't have a choice? It would be nice to have a little more separation between the stages. Looking forward to weekend 2.
