DJ Shadow Vs. Modeselektor

Yep this is a real kick in the balls. DJ Shadow's new album is amazing, and his classics cant be beat. He was a huge part of my life in the late 90's early thousands.

But even saying that, and even having already been to Modeslektor in the Sahara in 2008.... I think I'm still going to have to go with Modeselektor on this one. They're coming all the way from germany and just kill it live. They have a very unique sound that just makes me wana have fun more than DJ Shadow.

I like that they're at least both right next to each other, so it wont be hard to float between both of them if you really want to. Hopefully each weekend wont be as packed this year so it wont be as big of a problem to go between acts as it sometimes can be. I wont plan on it or anything though... I'll have to give Modeselektor my vote on this one.

The shadowsphere is dope and DJ shadow is the best in the business, but his set will be more downtempo than Modeselektor.

It's really painful for me. I just like Shadow's production more, and he's one of the last "true DJs" as I see it, just old school and ass-kicking. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that his live shit is pretty legendary.

I definitely think "The Outsider" is crap, but Shadows latest album was a return to what made him great. I think its a really solid release that brings back the same kind of vibe he had back in the 90's. Thats why it pains me so much to have to choose Modeselektor in this fight.

Like someone said earlier, I'm glad they seemingly have long sets for the both of them (no end time noted). Realistically I will probably start out at Modeselektor, move over to Shadow at some point, and make the call whether or not to move back. I honestly was kind of meh on Modeselektors new album, but their old stuff is just so.fucking.good.

Probably end it all with a song or two of Dre and Snoop.

I would say over half the tracks are solid and the others are not necessarily bad. But I guess I kind of see your point. Either way it is going to be one of the best sets of the weekend.
