Default First Timer Question: Ridiculous to wait for car camping passes to be avail?

    Hey y'all!

Planning our first trip to Coachella Weekend One, and made the newbie-mistake of not buying camping passes. Is it ridiculous & naive to expect that some car-camping ONLY (not a combo with GA tix) passes will be easy to find on this message board / craigslist / stubhub / ect. once the event date gets closer and people's plan change? Our alternative is staying at one of the off-site camping spots with Tent availabilities (we ain't got no RV), but I don't want to wait too long and miss out on the closer venues. I'm looking for the advice of a seasoned veteran who has been in this situation before.

Thanks a bunch and see you on the polo field!

There are passes for sale but you're trusting the secondary market, which has given reason to be suspicion of it. I'm gonna go with the "bird in the hand" theory here and suggest you book what you can now(off site camping) and learn your lesson for next year.

The problem with buying a car or tent camping pass from the secondary market is that the original ticket bought with said camping pass needs to be present when you check-in to the campground. What this means is that if you were to, say, buy a car camping pass from someone on CL they may not let you in because your festival wristband does not match the order that the car camping pass was purchased with (as you need to buy a festival ticket in order to buy a camping pass). Some have said that this wasn't really an issue last year, but I'd err on the side of caution like kory recommended.
