Some come with very large bills to certain international users. GV removed the a similarly snarky "buy a phone" comment on their FAQ a couple years ago. Didn't cell towers get overloaded in 2010? I now a half dozen Canadian Coachellers who don't even bring their phone to the festival as they don't think it's worth the trouble.

Canadian have to pay high "roaming" phonebills unless they fraudulently give a fake US address. I'm sure this applies to other international fans.

I've been to festivals where I almost never saw friends from the same city/country because of communications issues. The late set times only exacerbate the issue especilally to those flying out hours after they are released..

Just re-read some threads about the walkie talkie. Seems silly to buy a decent pair to only use once a year. Batteries can get used up and they can be cumbersome. Hard to talk/hear over the volume and others can use your "channels". Phone bills can easily hit $60+ just to ask "where are you" for the weekend and texts are equally pricy.

Friends just find some small crowd show scrall plans on each others schedules, have 4-5 planned meeting points and hope we see one another.
