Utah is one of four states that don't have the lottery (five if you count Nevada, which of course has good-old-fashioned legalized gaming). The local news last night had coverage of all the Utahans queued up in long lines out the front door of the first convenience store over the Idaho border. That type of psychology is funny to me: I will drive an hour or more to buy lotto tickets for a jackpot that is half a billion dollars, but for approximately the same odds, I wouldn't make the same trip in order to purchase lotto tickets for a "mere" $20 million jackpot.
