I'm turning 18 on April 22nd, and I'm going with my 18 year old friend, and my dad. Wish your son a Happy birthday for me. We're sort of like birthday buddies, only a day apart.

We pimping it up, staying at a nearby 5 star resort and VIP passes. Flying in from Toronto Canada the day before and going to show him around LA, Venice Beach and Malibu. I'm so fucking old that my first concert was the Allman Brothers when Dwayne was still alive (1970 at the Spectrum in Philly). This will be my 8th Coachella and the only reason I'm not mistaken for a narc is that cops are retired by my age. I have no plans to stop going but I may start to feel old when there are no bands my age or older. This year with Jimmy Cliff, Madness and the Buzzcocks I've got nothing to worry about.

I'm impressed with that Allman Brothers comment.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I'll bet the Black Keys wish they could say they saw them. The thing about listening to music evolve since the 50s is it gives you perspective. I wish every EDM hipster would listen to Pierre Henry "Le Voyage."

Of course. 18 to 55. I can't change my chances of getting lucky each time, but I certainly want as many tickets to the lottery as possible.

Remember your wife's summer camp trip to California in 84? Take a good look at your daughters nose. I feel just horrible.

Coachella is the highlight of our year and something we talk about throughout the year ("These guys are a mid-day Gobi act," etc.) If you love music and your son does, too, there is simply nothing better.

I would totally tag team a mother/daughter duo, just not me being the mother.

So my daughter and I ended up not going, but we bought our tickets for 2013 yesterday, and we're going for sure. 3 of her best friends got tickets also, so they will be car camping together, and I'm going to take my son for his 15th birthday (the first day of weekend one), and car camp separately from the girls (they will be 18 next year). So excited!

    To Amnesiac33, how was it?

My first show was The Animals at the Steel pier in Atlantic City in 1963! I sold my Barbie dolls to go and I have been going to shows ever since- went to the first Woodstock, saw lots of shows at the Fillmore east. I have been going with my kids to Coachella every year since the first one! I hope I am never too old for music!
