We'll be driving in from the LA area and want to pick up some dry ice for our cooler (as smartly suggested by some folks on this forum). Any locals have a good recommendations for a place to pick up some between Palm Springs and Indio?

Is it regularly stocked at grocery stores there? It's not where I'm at, so I wasn't sure.

Smart & Final carries dry ice. A Google search also turned up this: http://www.yellowpages.com/indio-ca/dry-ice. You'll probably want to find it somewhere closer to LA since a lot of other Coachella folks will have the same idea as you.

I've heard it's a good idea to wrap it in newspaper or towels and don't touch with your bare hands.

dry ice is a waste for these types of festivals, budget if you can, 10 bucks a day for ice on site, iam telling you

if someone has a good reason for using dry ice please let me know, all itll do is freeze your water bottles for example you can do that before and bring them in

Not sure how easy it is to bring a 5 gallon seat top beverage cooler and hard alcohol into the campgrounds but you can mix jack & coke, rum & coke, margaritas or whatever you like and put the dry ice in it. After a couple of hours you will have a refreshing alcoholic slurpee. Bring a scoop or use another cup.
