Prescription Medicine - Checked at Campground, or Venue?

I understand that prescription medicine needs to be cleared by security at some point. What I am not clear about is if this is only for the venue, or for the campground as well. I understand they conduct searches upon entering the campground. However if it is only for the venue I can probably just leave the meds at the campsite. Which is it?

They aren't going to be rifling through your toiletries. If you have a prescription, it's your name, you have ID, you'll be fine*


*unless it's for benzos, MMJ, or Delysid. You'll probably want to stash that well.

I didn't camp last year but I brought some nasal spray and made sure I had the actual prescription label on the bottle. They checked my ID at security to get onto the grounds and that was that. Just make sure you have the pharmacy label and your ID and you should be fine.

shit, i normally just bring the pills that i need in plastic bags and leave the bottles at home. guess i should reverse that....

My brother has been denied entry to multiple shows for doing this. He leaves his bottle in the car because it is a pain to carry around. It is annoying when he has to go all the back to the car to get his bottle, but he doesn't seem to learn.

I still don't know how he gets caught with little pills, but anyways.

OP if you don't want to carry the bottle around I think paper copies come with your script. You could put them in your wallet, fanny pack or whatever. You should bring your script documents though. If you have anything good you might get them taken rr even worse a pig could be ridiculous and charge you with a felony.

i took my meds last year in a pillbox.
i just claimed it at the check and showed it to them.
no big deal.

Coming in to camp they are most likely not going to tear your stuff apart enough to give you grief about medication, but if I were you I'd keep them in the designated bottles with your name on them and obviously have an ID ready to show if need be. Same for when you are going into the venue. But just as a heads up the FAQ has this to say about the venue:

What about bringing in my medical prescription? Example: Diabetic insulin?
You should identify yourselves to security while waiting to enter the venue. Security will locate the medical folks adjacent to the main entrance, and they will assist you in storing and providing a secure area for diabetics. ALL Medical prescriptions and accompanying names on those containers will need to match the person's proper ID. Medical related items (food included) may be brought in provided a proper dr. note and / or prescription detailing the necessity of the item is onsite and available.

Didn't need to take it into the venue, but I brought my medication into camp last year with no problem.
