Default Interpol tour 2007 with Blonde Redhead rumors

    In Soundcheck magazine, issue #9 Feb-March 2007

The article on Blonde Redhead, states that they will be touring with Interpol in the summer of 2007.

nothing is posted on Blonde Redhead's website so this could be wrong.

Yeah I was at the Grand Olympic show! It's been done but damn that was an amazing tour so I'd love to see it again.

I was at this show and I as well would not mind Blonde Redhead opening for them again...The only thing I am pissed about is that Interpol is touring this summer when I expected the Fall...I think I am just going to file for bankruptcy.

Yeah, the Grand Olympic show was pretty cool. It was my 3rd time seeing Interpol, first for Blonde Redhead. I fell in love with Blonde Redhead that night.

Blonde Redhead is touring as a headliner in April and May. They've definitely done multiple tours during a year before, but "this summer" seems unlikely given the dates they've already posted.

It's so weird to me to think of them opening for someone else. I've only seen them headline, and they attract large-ish crowds here. I'm assuming this would be for some sort of stadium show. Ugh.

I REALLY hope your wrong about the whole stadium thing, I don't know that Interpol can fill a stadium just yet, they did however sell out the greek that same year so I don't know, I just pray they don't play the Wiltern, I hate that fucking place.

^yeah i seen eLefant at the wiltern last year, i didnt really like that venue' $10 for parking and only the first 100 people can stand in the pit/front area.

i hope they dont play a stadium type show either...all the chairs get in the way, and i perfer venues where you can stand in the front towards the stage.

I guess stadium is the wrong term, just large venue. For example, I can only think of a few places in my area that would have a large enough capacity for this, and I hate each of those venues.

Hell yes. I'd love to see this double billing. Missed it in 2005 because I was in Florida for a wedding.

I highly doubt it'll be any place big in So.Cal! Perhaps The Wiltern again. That's what I'm guessing.

Grand Olympic is bigger than the Wiltern, I believe. As is the Greek.

True but some band have the tendencies to tour bigger venues (i.e. Greek, Olympic) and then they come back to smaller ones (i.e. Wiltern).

Yeah, the subway is very limited in where it goes and when it runs. Something that should be a part of daily life is instead an occasional convenience AT BEST. Public transportation here sure is a joke.

I wouldn't go so far to say public transportation in LA is a joke. Many people use it every day and if you want to go from point A to point B, it WILL take you there. I used to use it a very long time ago. Its just not fast because even with a car everything is a 30 minute drive away.

The problem is really L.A. culture and the city layout. Many other cities have a downtown where almost everything is close. Even if they had subways taking you to most spots you wanted to, I bet you most people will still be driving. Hell, when I lived there, I used to drive anywhere that was more than 3 blocks!!! haha.

I've seen Interpol three times (Olympic Grand w/ Blonde Redhead, The Wiltern, and Coachella) and all three times I've been somewhat dissapointed. They play their songs well, but they are b-o-r-i-n-g. No crowd banter. No real movement around the stage. They're too professional about it. The get up on stage, play their songs (which admittedly sound great,) and then they leave after the encore. Period. There's very little intesity to their shows. Blonde Redhead were way more intense opening...

I dunno... I mean don't get me wrong, I like the band and all, but they're just kinda : live. I may not watch them at Coachella this year if there's somebody more interesting playing...
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

It sucks. When I was at UCLA, it was impossible to go to any concerts via public transportation unless:
    1. it was at the Wiltern
    2. or the Troubadour
    3. or the Hollywood Bowl
    14. it ended by 10pm

The Echo, Spaceland, the Greek, anywhere in Hollywood? SOL. There's one bus route on Sunset Blvd, ONE! And it stops running well before midnight. It's like the powers that be WANT people to drive home drunk from all the bars on Sunset Strip and apparently going to concerts or late movies at The Arclight or the Chinese is a crime against humanity.

When I went to see Morrissey at Universal, mta.net listed the last bus from Sunset & Orange as coming at 11:24. I got there at 11:10pm, and by 11:50, still no bus. Thank God some girls offered to give me a ride or I would have been stuck there all night. And after Beck in 2005, I was stranded there as well, because I thought I'd have a ride, but I was fortunate enough to know someone at the time who would actually pick me up if I called. Of course, I had to put up with complaining for three days and had to spend $40 filling up the tank with gas (hmm, a taxi would probably have been better). But still, well worth it because I was about to be murdered and raped by the filthy homeless piece of shit who kept yelling threats at me from the In & Out parking lot.

Hmm.. I guess I never really rode the MTA at nights.

Back to topic now... I love Interpol but would agree that sometimes their performances aren't very stimulating, especially from far away. Up close though, very good show. Seen then many many times and I am still excited about them at Coachella.

Speaking of how professional they are on stage, I saw them on their last tour up in Portland, ME when one of the monitor speakers by Dan K's side caught fire. So the place started to smoke but every one in the band had kept playing (including Dan) as if nothing was happening. Some poor roadie had to come in and carry it away, probably burning his hands in the process.

Having Blonde Redhead open up for any future tour though would be great. Saw BR for the first time at Coachella several years ago.

you don't even need the subway, you can get to the wiltern easiest by bus.

I am lucky and live in the valley. From the subway stops on the red line alone I can get to The Hollywoob Bowl, The Knitting Factory, The Fonda, Avalon, The Palladium, The Wiltern and the Orpheum. I have taken it all the way to Long Beach Arena too for ashow, and also to the sports arena a few years ago for Warped tour. Guess it works if you live in the right area..

Yeah, but a lot of the subway lines stop running before midnight, if not all, and most shows end after 11pm. And then you gotta change trains so many times. I caught the last one from Universal to Hollywood and Highland after Beck, and only because it was running 20 minutes late. Disgusting.

Train times have been extended to just past midnite, you should check the schedules more.

    yes i am totally serious,

the only people i kno who use public transportation are people who ride the metro and work in downtown LA and thats because parking would add up to $80 per day.
