getting there b/w 6 and 7 am thursday. Spent last year in the tent camping area. looking forward to some car camping fun this year.

last year we got there about 10pm and didn't get to our camp s pot until 3am. although it was a good time partying in line with everyone else this will not happen again this year.

sounds like all of you are crazy fanatics who will go the extra distance to get into lot 5. is it really that much better over there? not sure what lot i ended up in last year, but it was right next to the row of showers, the dj/swing set, and the skating rink.

Main St is extended into lot 10 this year too, but if you arrive between 9-11am thurs you will be in Lot 5.

Leaving L.A. at 5am as well. Figured it should be a good amount of time to stop by the market for some final supplies and be beat the morning traffic. Its creeping up so fast I cant believe it!

unless this year people have a bigger jump on everything, getting there around 2-3 pm (and driving from oregon) was fine to get into lot 5-8 last year. deep in 5, but 5 nonetheless. dont be so stressed. you end up where you end up and its great regardless. just dont get there at 11 pm.

Thanks much for your replies. My issue last year in Lot 10 (a good 20 minute walk to the stages) was that I'm extremely fair-skinned (think the movie Powder) and couldn't make the trek during the 100+ degree days. No sun screen on earth could help. Once inside the festival grounds there were shelter tents and shade, but getting there was 85% of the battle. So I need to camp close to the entrance or miss a lot of daytime bands.

Use a parasol or umbrella. They sold cool paper ones inside the fest. Helps with the sun:-)

You still have a decent chance of being within five minutes of the festival gates if you get there in the afternoon I bet. My group didn't arrive until six I believe last year and we were still in Lot 5 and a quick walk away from the gates
