    Default Islands - A Sleep & a Forgetting

All the Islands threads I saw in my search were over four years old. Time for a new one. Almost forgot about these guy(s) myself until I joined my friend for the small show they played at the Bootleg Theatre last night. Great performance - really reinvigorated my love for the band. All the new materiel sounded fantastic and the classics from Return to the Sea and Vapours never disappoint.

Not a massive fan of the new one, but they do seem to get better live every time I see them.

I've always enjoyed Islands! I have two physical copies of their CD "Return to the Sea" because I wore my first one out so much. And yes, I still bought CDs then.

Yeah, I saw them last night and they were excellent. They started off very reserved, playing slower stuff from the new album, and they kept ratcheting up the volume and intensity.

Cara, did they have Barry R. there with them? He was the highlight of our show. You would know if Barry R. was there.

I was at the SF show. New songs sounded better live, and the old songs were so good.

And it seems like no Nick Thorburn show is complete without a moment where he gets into it with an audience member, that's 3/3 out of the shows I've been into.

Barry R. was not there. I was standing next to the girl who kept yelling stuff out to him, and right behind that one really sassy guy. What did he say? He was like "NOTHING'S CHANGED!"

haha I know exactly who you're talking about. I didn't hear the very first comment(I assume about the sound) but then it went like
"I don't have control over that"
    "How'd you do that?"
    "How'd I do what?"
    "That"
"Whatever fucking hippy, go back to Haight. (I forget some stuff)---I'm better than you."
    and a couple songs later
"San Francisco, a lot's happened since last time we were here-"
"No it hasn't, NOTHINGS CHANGED!" <- lol yeah this one was just fucking rude. It was such a small venue that it just seemed really weird.
    "...bartender."
