THE WEATHER PATTERN WILL START TO CHANGE THIS WEEK... AS A SERIES OF SYSTEMS TAKE AIM AT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE FIRST TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY... BRINGING MUCH COOLER WEATHER... AS WELL AS LIGHT TO MODERATE PRECIPITATION. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY RANGE BETWEEN A THIRD AND TWO THIRDS OF AN INCH FOR MOST LOCATIONS WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS... WITH AN INCH TO 1.5 INCHES POSSIBLE ALONG THE FAVORED COASTAL SLOPES. THE DESERTS MAY ALSO SEE LIGHT AMOUNTS... WITH UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH POSSIBLE. SNOW LEVELS WILL START OUT RELATIVELY HIGH WITH THIS SYSTEM... ABOVE 7500 FEET... BUT FALL TO AROUND 5500 FEET ON WEDNESDAY. THIS MEANS THAT SOME OF THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE MOUNTAINS MAY SEE SEVERAL INCHES OF NEW SNOW. I really don't think rain will be a huge concern. It will not rain enough to muddy. Every year in the past, they had trucks dumping water on the dirt paths/streets. The real concern is the wind. 50 mph winds could really screw things up, logistics wise. Coud you imagine them trying to dump the Arcard Fire balls if it had been that windy.

Yes, I can imagine.....that would be amazing! We could have a scavenger hunt to find all the balls. Hikers would be finding them in the mtns for years. No but seriously the wind is the only thing that even somewhat concerns me. I think we will be fine though.

I think it was in 09 and 10 when it was really windy the entire week leading up to the festival, then in the 90's by Friday and no winds. I'll take the rain over the wind. This is really making packing a bitch.

Most weather reports I'm reading are predicting 50 mph wind gusts in the desert on Friday. Might be tough for the campers with canopies.

where are you seeing this? I checked weather.com, accuweather, and nws and didn't see anything that would be classified as high wind advisory.
