Silversun Pickups are pleased to announce their third studio album, Neck of the Woods, will be released May 8, 2012.

Neck of the Woods contains 11 tracks and was produced by Jacknife Lee. "Bloody Mary" will be the first single.

Well my initial reaction is disappointment that they didn't use sweet Darren Waterson album artwork again. Those first 2 covers were some of my favorites.

And the window on the far left is the only one to not be lit up. I'm not seeing much of anything - ran it through a lighting effect on photoshop to see if anything was hidden in the darker parts, but still not seeing anything other than something leaning up against the house on the far right that I can't make out.

Such a pedestrian cover compared to their last two albums, bleh.

I like it. Took a couple of listens, but it's solid just like every other one of their songs.

On first listen I think it's going to grow into another favorite. Just like their previous albums, I really like most of the songs with the exception of 2 or 3 tracks that have dull portions but end up redeeming themselves. On Swoon I thought the first half was the best, but this time I think the 2nd half(track 5 and on) is superior.

The first ten posts are nothing about the cover because that's all we had to talk about. The album is great. It constantly builds and each song gets a bit more neurotic as the album goes on. I think Jacknife Lee's production really helped this band grow a bit more. The use of the layer of drum machines on top of Christopher's live drumming really stood out for me. Simmer just builds to this boiling point and Nikki's playing on and Dot's and Dashes has such a great groove to it. And it's good to finally have Joe's effects more pronounced in the mix. Brian's lyrics are cryptic and I see why he says the album sounds like a horror movie.

Just got back from seeing Brian and Nikki play acoustically at Amoeba Records in San Francisco. I was 15 minutes late to this 45 minute event so probably missed a couple songs but I did luckily get to catch these:
The Pit
Dots and Dashes
Panic Switch
Lazy Eye

All awesome. Before going I would've said The Pit and Dots and Dashes were my favorites off the album, so that was pretty cool. The one bummer was that they cut the part where he yells "waiting and fading..." during Panic Switch. I think it was because of time, but c'mon that's the best part. Also sucks that they're only playing the shitfest BFD around here on the tour beyond this.

I was there and rather enjoyed their set and stage banter. You only missed one song, Blood Mary. My favorite of the evening was, The Pit.

I wasn't feeling the acoustic set that much, but it was cool to see them pull it off. I like how they went to Magnolia and drank WINE. Hahaha. They brew some really good beer there. The banter was classic. Brian is pretty funny. His Magnolia 'dis about "serving beer in test tubes" was spot on. I always walk out of that place feeling like they kinda skimped ya.

Awesome show last night in Oakland. I love watching this band continue to grow, fan-base wise and musically.

Was also great to see Nikki rocking up there with a belly about to burst with twins.

Tonight is Nikki's last show for this tour. She is being replaced by sarah from the happy hollows. Glad they played three seed last night. Even though it was without Brian's guitar.

If anyone else has seen any of the shows with the the Happy Hallows bass player, could you give me your thoughts on her playing and the show you saw? I'm wondering if it was just the Aragon shitty sound or if she actually is as bad as I thought. It might have been me but every time I looked over to her she was looking at her fingers and her bass was so low in the mix that it felt deliberate. There was barely any interaction between Brian and her that I noticed. I've seen this band so many times I can't keep count but this was the first time where I just didn't feel any connection at all with the band or the music. Really the only time I did feel the crowd respond was when Brian would go off on his solos. Hopefully it was just me or just an off night for the band.
