His 2010 coachella set was certainly something to witness. Joel is a great producer with a pretty unique show. As already stated, however, he's pretty much had the same tracklist for the last 2 years since that show, with the only major releases being dubstep/sofi collabs. He should come back when he has an album-worth of new material to showcase, but definitely not before that.

I'm not much of a deadmau5 fan either. The first time I saw him was at Treasure Island last year and i thought he was just mehh. I really liked his older stuff but I don't think he is that great live. I understand that with his set up it has to be pre-programmed and stuff but something about his set just didn't do it for me. I think its because people say he is "SO AMAZING!!1!1!" but really, there is much better acts out there.

The 2010 debut of the cube at Coachella was the second best EDM show I've ever seen in my life. First being Daft Punk. Joel is working on new material right now so that's probably why you're seeing that he's not doing shit in April. Dude needs a break he's constantly on the road. I don't care if Deadmau5 becomes even more mainstream than he already is, or if people talk shit about him, I'll always like him.

I'm pretty sure Deadmau5 is in treatment these days. Apparently he suffered a serious emotional shock to his ego brought on by the success of Skrillex. In fact, we may never see the Mau5 again, but we'll be stuck with Joel Zimmerman for years ahead.

I like a lot of deadmau5's music. Aside from the dubstep he's made and some of the cheesy tracks with vocals, I enjoy his stuff. Some people don't buy into his gimmicky stuff and I understand that, but he has been known to make quality tracks.

Mainstream? Yes.

Has simply wearing a "mau5 head" helped him increase his status? Yes.

But all that aside, I wouldn't categorize him with Guetta, SHM, Afrojack, Avicii or anyone in that league of awful. At least not yet.

100% agree. Though I will say this, he has THE WORST fanbase out of any musician IMO. That being said, I respect him as a producer.

I love Deadmau5, but I'm also a huge skrillex fan, but for completely different reasons. With Deadmau5 I love his live shows where I'm not a huge tech house fan, even the techy stuff he drops live is fun. Only thing better than seeing the debut of the cube was seeing the new cube setup in a fucking forest at outside lands. With skrillex its more production for me as when I finally saw him for the first time at coachella, my shock and awe were definitely coming from Excision and some friendly fungi I was given lulz, not his shitty DJing. Luckily I've heard and witnessed him improving his crowd pleasing skills over the last year (which is true for most up and coming artists, that they do have the potential to get better even if one show you go too isn't the best).

Gotta say I do regret missing Jay Z but I would not go back and change anything. If I were to see Deadmau5, his festival shows are fucking incredible, but I'd almost rather see him as Joel Zimmerman to actually see what kind of DJ he is instead of seeing another highly produced but amazing "Deadmau5" show.

I say Deadmau5 to close the Main Stage on Friday next year. He is planning on retiring his cube and current stage set up, he said that was all inspired by Daft Punk, he wants to do something that he can call his own, its all been said on his live streams. I think Coachella would be a perfect place to debut it next year.

The dood is talented and people love him, if Swedish house can close main stage the mau5 can do it also.

I know he had some beef with the Goldenvoice guys from 2010 because he flew in with a helicopter or something like that but Im sure they can brush that aside.
