Record Store Day 2012 (April 21st)

I am friends with a guy who owns a record shop here and he usually gets a bunch of Record Store Day releases. I just sent him a message to see if he knows what he is getting in yet... I really want The White Stripes, The Shape of Punk to Come reissue, and The Flaming Lips 2LP releases.

Man, this shit is going to be so hard to get, there's only 300. Ugh. I'm going to pull a suprefan and camp out at Amoeba at 6 or 7 AM. I will get a copy of this. There's a lot of stuff I want, but this one is must-have. Now I'm wondering if it will be in Punk or a special RSD section? Every second counts.

Not sure how it is at Amoeba, but here *everything* out on RSD is behind the counter and it's pretty much first come first serve to ask the clerk behind the counter for whatever you want. I would imagine that the more exclusive things would be like that anywhere unless they want fights to break out hah.

EDIT: Looks like I made that part up. It doesn't say which day it will be going onsale Weekend 1. Weird. Maybe it will go onsale Friday?

They accept card. They've also got free storage for same-day purchases, and you can pay for storage of your purchases through the weekend. I've found some really good scores in the store, and it's a great place to escape the heat for a bit.

Awesome, thanks! I'll hit there first thing on Friday to see what they have, but it looks like from their description on coachella.com they won't sell any RSD things until Saturday. I'm expecting to spend quite a bit...

Completely varies. Some are normally priced (Fucked Up's exclusive last year was cheap as shit) and some are very highly priced. I'm expecting Vaya to be pricey.

My plan is to get Coachella exclusives while I'm there for weekend 1, and then hit up my participating record store on the 21st. I hope this stuff doesn't turn into a giant resell party to make a buck. eBay was RIDICULOUS last year.
