Are you traveling any distance? Assuming you're going to get this after the fest to avoid issues with the sun, but seems like it would be a pain to take care of on the way home. Maybe that will add to the memories.

I'll be arrving in Palm Springs on Tuesday 10th and was thinking of getting it either getting it on the Tuesday or Wednesday. I only want something small done, and it won't be anywhere that the sun will touch.

You're going to be out in the desert.
You said it'll be on a place where the sun don't shine, but you're going to sweat and get it dirty.
On top of that, you'll be going through the uncomfortable phase of being sore and itchy.

Do what you want, but if I were you, I'd get it after the festival.

Dude, I just got a tattoo a week ago, and let me tell you, do NOT get it before the festival. Trust me. If it gets dirty AT ALL, you're fucked. It'll get infected and you'll be miserable. I got mine on my calf, so it's easily out of sunlight (NO sunlight should be exposed to it for at least 2 weeks), but even though it can be covered up by pants, you STILL have to keep it very clean and moisturized. I had to apply Aquafor at least 10 times a day for the first 3 days and about 5 times a day after that. It'll more than likely get irritated, bleed, and get infected if you go to a desert festival with minimal showers while you're there.
