Does anyone know when single day passes started selling out last year?
Just in case anyone cares, Dr. P was added to the lineup. No word on what day he's playing yet.
says the guy who has spent five hours total inside the fest and scurried home like a rat once the predicted rain started falling.
lolla, like any fest has its pros and cons. nothing compares to coachella so expecing that experience going in will only let you down. they have revamped the layout two years ago which has helped tremendously with the bottlenecking issue that they previously had along with expanding the grounds to spread out the side stages creating a more intimate environment for them. the crowd the past two years has been much more energetic and into the shows than at coachella. the crowds at coachella have only been getting worse imo, with this past one having the most boring festival crowd i have ever encountered. the food at lolla destroys coachella. it is much bigger than coachella, so be prepared for that. i would recommend staying away from the main stage on the south side of the fest as much as you can as that is where the suburban kids like to hang out, drink beers, and be douches. the fest ends at 10, however the entire city is taken over for the weekend by lolla with after shows, pre shows, etc starting on wednesday night and going non stop until late into the night on sunday. i would recommend if you are coming in for lolla to throw yourself into the entire exerience if your body can handle it. like all festivals, they are what you choose to make of them. enjoy.
Lick an orange, it tastes like an orange. Lick a pineapple, it tastes like a pineapple. Go ahead, try it. Try some more. The strawberries taste like strawberries. The snozzberries taste like snozzberries! We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams. Come along, come along.
Friday passes are sold out
Lolla is cool, it is just a lot harder to get to the front of sets is you want to watch a lot of stuff. I recommend staying away from the side stage on the south side. It was really bad for almost every set I saw there.
So when's the fookin schedule coming out?
lolla just posted this on their facebook:
i'm really hoping for an atdi show at the metro.Looking to extend your Lolla experience once the gates at Grant Park close? Our friends at Do312 will help us announce the weekend-long list of Official 2012 Aftershows next week on Tuesday, June 12!

Set times plz
So the aftershows are getting announced on Tuesday...Doesn't seem to make much sense to me that they might end up announcing the aftershows before the set times.
Maybe they will announce both the aftershows and set times simultaneously on Tuesday?
That's what I think will happen, unless the set times are announced on Monday.
schedule is up.

Only after show I could care about....
The Afghan Whigs
Sat. 08/04 | 10:00PM (Doors) @ Metro
the schedule has some interesting conflicts. i do have to say that sunday has sigur ros>atdi>jack white so that should make for a pretty enjoyable sunday night. and having justice and kaskade on at the same time as jack means there is a chance the crowd won't be completely awful.

Lollapalooza can't schedule for shit. I'll have huge gaps then 3 bands conflicting. Glad I won't be attending (not literally), or I'd be pissed.
Besides missing Bloc Party the schedule works out well for me. Looking forward to some good aftershows this year to. Twin Shadow will be great.
i'm only going friday and sunday but i'm absolutely fine with the schedule. everything that was top priority i'm gonna be able to see. i can see how some of these conflicts would be annoying for a lot of people though.

So many conflicts! Glad Im not going. This is the problem with such an early end time.
It seems like the bands playing the stages back to back, are alot less alike which will help with the camping at the stages.
Yeah, way different from my last Lolla... when they did rock acts before Soundgarden, punk before Green Day, indie rock before Arcade Fire, weird stuff before Lady Gaga... I thought it was an awesome setup and limited me making the mile walk over and over again. I can't figure out this schedule, but I'm glad I won't be there.
