Well, Metallica added a 3rd show to their Mexico run, which lands on Saturday of Lollapalooza. I guess they're out. Bummer.

Not surprised...Metallica (or Black Sabbath) always felt like an unlikely Lolla fit for some reason.
I'm going to guess the 3 headliners to be Jay-Z & Kanye (Watch the Throne), RHCP and Black Keys
Actually it's August 1,2 and 4 not 3. My bad

The only reason I'm not discounting at 100% the idea of Metallica headlining Lolla on Sunday the 5th is due to Metallica belonging to that prestige club of bands who can zap between shows via private jet. Still, this is looking very remote.
I like your optimism. 18 days until lineup announcement?
Upcoming Shows:
Pitchfork Festival: 7/19 @ Union Park
Mountain Oasis Festival: 10/25-27

This rumor continues to excite me. One of the most fun concerte experiences ever. I'll also take Jay-Z without Kanye but would prefer both consdiering Kanye would be home. How about both of them do solo sets. One on Friday, the other on Saturday with WTT on Sunday! heh.
If y'all fresh to death, then I'm deceased... -Kanye West
Jamiroquai 2014 please.
Fuck Kanye

Same. Watch the Throne is good because of Jay-Z. Kanye is overrated.
As for the possible lineup, it sounds like more hype is being built up around Beck and Jack White being there in some fashion. Me likey.

Kanye is awesome and WTT would be fantastic at Lolla
I have to disagree with you on this one. I've seen Jay-Z and Kanye both numerous times over the the years and Jay-Z always puts on a better show. Where are you getting this "much accepted universally by hip hop fans?" Come to Brooklyn or anywhere in New York and you'll get laughed at by that statement. I mean what rapper can play with a 40 piece orchestra or Phish and still sound awesome? Only Hova
As far as them being on the bill at Lolla, I say that chance is less than 25%. Maybe Jay-Z since he's playing some festivals in Europe this summer but Kanye will probably be busy with his fashion line.
But in my opinion, Nas and Doom are my favorites! The way in which Doom delivers blows my fucking mind every single time...
Doom > Kanye
Nas > Jay-Z
For the record...
Jay-Z Coachella 2010 > Kanye Coachella 2011
Let the bitching begin!
Glad to hear someone has the same opinion. And I'm not biased due to location... I have more reason to love Kanye than any of you because Chi is considered his home. But I just don't care for him.
It's not his shenanigans or narcissism; I just don't like his music. Hell, the only thing I liked off of MBDTF was Monster. I'm no authority though and I won't purport to be one, because for me hip-hop has become played out and boring over the past 15 years. However, I still like Jay-Z. He's entertaining live without relying off theatrics.
And Kanye's set at Coachella last year? I left halfway through. Glad I watched PJ Harvey instead.

I'm pretty sure the original statement was referencing their presence on the album WTT, not who can put on a better live show. But I disagree with the idea of Jay Z being a weak link, I think more that the album sounds more like a Kanye album with a lot of Jay-Z features than it does a Jay-Z album with Kanye.
Going off of the Throne tour, I'd say that Jay is a better performer. However, I liked watching them together because it was a nonstop flow of energy, and they played well off each other.
Weekend 1

Jay-Z is a better rapper and performer, period.
As far as WTT, "Welcome to the Jungle," and "Who Gon Stop Me" are pretty much Jay-Z songs with Kanye doing filler hooks.
Why do you hate fun? You do realize they don't play the entire song from start to finish and this is to close out the night with a big dance party, right? I'm fairly certain the arena I saw this show in had zero asses in seats that night. People were having the time of their life and eating it up. I have yet to hear a single person who has witnessed this at the show come back and say it was a terrible idea or they didn't like it.
WTT=Most fun you will ever have at a hip hop show. At least if you are a middle aged white guy who loves to have a good time.
I got an e-mail maybe an hour ago saying Lollapalooza Early Bird tickets for $200 are on sale. Apparently those have sold out already as well. Price is already $230. pffft
