Default Flying in from Canada, car camping, need advice!

A few buddies and myself are flying in from the land of igloo's, beavers and expensive beer and we need some advice on how to approach the weekend:

-We are going to weekend 2 and are flying into LAX and renting a vehicle / car camping at the venue
    - We are only flying with sleeping bags and the necessities (clothes, pillows, solar power chargers etc) and are planning to purchase the rest of the things we need for car camping.

Any advice on where to purchase everything in the LA area? We will need to purchase everything and will mostly donate the non destroyed items after Coachella has finished.

Any advice on what to bring or how to do it from anyone who has done something similar?

    Much appreciated!

Depending on your arrival time and sense of adventure, I would get out of LA as fast as possible and make a stop along the way closer to Indio. Just search "walmart near indio, ca" and you'll see several locations. Same with Target. You can get a cooler, ice and beer at Walmart and be ready for the check-in line/car search (and tents, coolers, chairs, etc.)

Your biggest dilemma will be some kind of shade canopy. Tents get really hot during the morning. Pre-ordering a cheap canopy off Walmart.com is not a bad idea; not sure they would have the cheap ones in the store. Pick up a tarp and some zip ties in the store for a side panel. Or just make friends with shady neighbors.

If you want cheap, throwaway gear go to one of these stores:
    Walmart
    Target
    Big 5

Avoid these stores (they sell only high end gear):
    REI
    Sport Chalet
    Dicks Sporting Goods.

Hi - My friend and I are flying in from Canada for weekend 1 and are buying a tent, canopy etc when we get there. We would be looking to get rid of it after (we don't want to bring it back to Toronto) so let me know if you are interested in buying our gear off us!

Hello man, my friend and I looking for a place to crash on during Coachella.

We are exchange students from South Korea, so it's gonna be our last valuable experience in the US.

We have been looking for some place to crash on almost for one week but it hasn't been quite worked out.

If you have extra seats or are interested in letting us to stay at camping, it would be great opportunity for us to meet you.

Of course we're gonna pay for our seats. Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope you make a mention below mine.
