One double, one good catch. Not the worst intro ever, but far from the best.

Oh, and Dodgers swept the Nationals.

He also hit a sac fly to put them ahead in the 9th. I would say he had a very good debut, especially for a 19-year old.

I think it's stupid that the Dodgers fans were booing him. He's a teenager. A cocky teenager, but a teenager none the less. MLB pitching, a good veteran leadership, could humble him a bit. He has a ton of talent, and I hope it comes to fruition. I enjoy watching great players.

Ah, I had to leave before the 9th last night, so I didn't get to see that. And I watch the games on silent while listening to records, but that's pretty shitty of the Dodgers fans. I thought it was cool to get to see a young prospect play his first games.

Dodgers currently have the best record in the National League, and the second best in the entire league. And they were predicted preseason to be the worst team in the NL West. SO MUCH FOR PREDICTIONS!

Someone predicted them to be worse than the Padres? Seriously?

Yeah I don't think I read any predictions like that. Most predictions I saw had LA, SF, and AZ in a close three-way race, with the Rockies a good ways behind them and the Padres way way out of it.

That record also represents their best start to a season since 1981, a year in which they won the World Series. I doubt that will be the case this year, but a playoff appearance would be wonderful after back-to-back .500 seasons.

(but, really...I can attest to the fact that Giants fans are nearly as non-commital towards the end of the games. sure, weather is often a factor, but they often leave in droves as well)

Oh, I wasn't at the game. I had to leave the house. If I were at the game, I wouldn't leave until after the final pitch has been thrown. For shame.

When I lived in California I would sometimes get there a little late because I was driving in from work, in Palm Springs (literally). I would stay until after the end of the game though, regardless of the outcome. The most salient memories I have of going to Dodger games were seeing Fernando Tatis hit two grand slams in the same inning against Chan Ho Park, and a few years later, of seeing Greg Maddux' first home game as a Dodger and Russel Martin winning it in the bottom of the night, 1-0, with a homerun. Anyway...don't get why the fans were booing Bryce. As for their start, I'm excited, but it's a tempered excitement. They've played more homegames, and have played the Padres 6 times. They hung with Atlanta, but wound up losing the series, same with Milwaukee. We'll see how they do on this short road trip. The bullpen has looked a little weak. Hopefully that gets better.

Same here. I don't think they've got what a lot of other upper echelon teams have overall, but I will go out on a limb and say that last in the NL West prediction won't come true.

The debut of the Johnny Damon era for the Indians is being delayed by rain. I'm really hoping adding him and getting Choo back gives their offense a spark. They haven't hit a home run in almost two weeks and have somehow overtaken the Tigers and White Sox for first in the process. If the Tribe can get some offense going, they could win that division.

Gagne saves were the best part of those games, they pumped the music and fans went nuts... it was almost like being in a real baseball town.

I know it's early, but can we talk about how awesome Joe Saunders has been this season? 5 games pitched with a .90 ERA. Best start for any pitcher in Dbacks history.

EDIT* Currently the best ERA in MLB.

I've been watching Saunders in fantasy as he's available in our league, but not sure if I'm ready to trust him as historically his stats haven't been there at all. Guess the revelation this year for him is that he dropped the inconsistent slider going with a three, instead of four, pitch rotation. Did pick up Jackson before tonight's game and so far, so good. ERA has been getting rammed lately.

^ Yeah, definitely have to take his history into consideration. He's the last pitcher on our rotation that I expected to start this well.

there is another one starting strong for AZ. Miley?. Towers always had a keen eye for pitchers*.

*not that he is to be given credit for those guys. He'll put together a good staff and bullpen though (per evidenced in San Diego).

what a wild fucking game. braves beat the phillies on chipper's 11th inning homerun. and thank god he did. there were no more position players left available for the game. pitchers would've had to bat every time

The Ziegler trade is the only one that continues to dumbfound me. This guy sucks. He had a couple bad breaks tonight but I swear he fucks up every time I see him in. Doesn't look like he has any confidence in his stuff whatsoever.
