He's not there yet.
yea i hope i jinxed it screw burnett
Teams were being especially stingy with their prospects at the deadline this year, very strange seeing Jacob Turner as the biggest prospect and really the only top 50 prospect moved involved in a trade. Glad the Padres didn't force a trade of Headley in this market, Orioles wouldn't part with Jake Arrieta for him apparently.
The White Stripes 9/18
Good work, boys. I wonder how long it will be before Hanley starts to quit on the team...

What, specifically, will you miss about him other than his jolly girth? We needed another lefty in the bully.
Gonna miss Podsednik more now that Sweeney went all Stoudemire the other night and is out for the season.
Buster Olney couldn't make this shit up.

It will be a close race between three teams... We will see in October!
Yeah, and all that was without half our starting rotation, our MVP, and no other hitting threat in the lineup outside of Andre Ethier. With Kemp & Billingsley now healthy, and with the trades they just pulled off, this team is going to look a lot different. I stand by my statement.
The Diamondbacks have had their share of injuries too though (one of our best pitchers for example). I think most teams have at this point in the season.
I wasn't really trying to come off as a dick before, but I just know too many Dodger fans (not you in particular) who have been saying that the acquisition of Hanley Ramirez/Victorino made them a shoe-in for the World Series. I'm just allergic to hyperbole in general, I suppose.

Like Geno said, should be a pretty close race when it's all said and done. Seems as though the NL West is the tightest out of all the divisions.

Yeah I agree. I don't understand why getting some names off of last place teams is an automatic trip to the world series. Considering if their original teams weren't in last place they wouldn't have been traded in the first place. Now that being said they are still big upgrades, I just don't see any shoe in teams for the world series from either league.
Of course the race will be close. I'm not just waving the Dodgers flag around like some cocksure asshole... my logic is the Dodgers were one of the best teams in baseball through April & May, got some injuries, hit a lull, and now upgraded the talent on their roster. My prediction is they will have the most talent in the division. I'm not saying they're going to the World Series.
this doesn't happen enough in the majors anymore.

Buster Posey hit four homeruns in five games going into today's game, and hit another one today. Impressive.
Man, the Red Sox season just keeps getting worse and worse. After already shattering the all-time MLB record for most games missed due to time spent on the Disabled List, the Sox lose one of their few bright spots this season: Will Middlebrooks is out for the rest of the year with a broken wrist. His stats through less than a half a season: 15 HR, .292 BA, 54 RBI, .835 OPS.
Add to that, the Red Sox haven't played one single game this season with Ellsbury, Pedroia, Crawford, Gonzalez and Ortiz all in the same lineup.
But really, injuries aren't even their biggest problem; Beckett and Lester are. When their two "aces" start, the Sox have a record of 15-27. If they were just .500 when Beckett and Lester started they would currently be leading the AL Wild Card.

Making the trek down to Baltimore next week to catch these bums in action. This will be the first year in recent memory that the Sox go in as sorry underdogs against the O'S. I don't think it's going to be "Fenway South" like in years past. Shit, if the Orioles win and gain ground on the Yankees, it won't be a total flail.

Might finally get to see a Red Sox game in Fenway soon. Any recommedations on where to sit? Or any general info?
The way the Sox are playing, you should have no problem finding face value tickets at the box office or on Craigslist.
Fenway bleachers is a unique experience but stay away if rowdy drunks spewing profanity is not your thing.
I like the third base grandstands for perspective though you do miss those doubles down the line into the left field corner.
Cheapest option: You could always buy standing room and bop around from here to there during the game; I've done this a few times lately and always seem to find a vacant seat. If you're going with a big group this may not work.
Expect to pay 8-9 bucks for a beer in the game. Fenway Franks in the 4-5 dollar range. Italian Sausage grinder with onions and peppers is the specialty on the street. I like the guy with the yellow cart behind the green monster. Plenty of watering holes around the park. The Cask n Flagon is the default spot for pregame ambience. The Bleacher Bar has a great view from the Mens Room and my recent preference has been Baseball Tavern/Jerry Remy's parley for drinkng/eating/more drinking before the game. They are both on Boylston Street.
Disregard most of the above if you are a non-drinking vegan.
If you're not driving take the Green Line to Fenway or Kenmore Square.

Dodgers pick up a nice win in Pittsburgh. Victorino goes 2-4 with a double and a homerun and 3 of Dodgers 5 rbis. Now hopefully the Giants drop one to the Nats so the Dodgers can tie this shit back up.
Latest drama in the Red Sox saga: players and ownership had a private meeting in NYC hotel to discuss players' displeasure with Bobby V.
