This looks like a pretty equal trade to me, Aybar is a great defensive and a decent hitting shortstop. If Greinke resigns with the Angels the rotation will be out of this world good for the next 4 years.

Thoroughly enjoying the Reds' 10-game winning streak, all without Votto in the lineup. Still waiting for the Pirates to collapse, though. That 3-game lead is pretty slim with two months left in the season.

Bobby Valentine is such a fucking clown. I hope he's one and done for the sake of all who follow baseball.

I don't know, that's a tough call because he would likely end up back on ESPN or MLB Network and we would be forced to listen to his commentary regularly.

I don't recall him being this obnoxious when calling games. Who knows though. Could be right.

Miroir is correct, but i think i'd take his commentary over managing the Red Sox, as I am a fan of them.

Victorino to the Dodgers. That's now two major players the Dodgers have gotten without really giving up much.

Not a bad pickup. That said, I hope my Dodger friends look at his stats before declaring: "WE'RE WINNING THE WORLD SERIES!!"

I don't think anyone here has said that (although "blockbuster" was used), some of my fb friends though...

Yeah, they've done a good job at acquiring talent at the deadline with a weak farm system and without giving up Zach Lee or Gould. Giants match though by acquiring Pence for a minor league catcher they have no use for. Funny thing is rumors swirling that Phillies may use these pieces from the Victorino and Pence deals to trade for Chase Headley.

It makes me very happy to watch the Dodgers deplete what they have in their farm system for a cancer like Ramirez and a has-been like Victorino.

They didn't really give up anything of real value though. D-backs are talking about making some kind of monster deal in response to the moves of the Dodgers and Giants; perhaps a pitcher.

Yeah, Justin Upton (plus a pitching prospect) for Felix Hernandez is the rumor right now. Cliff Lee is supposedly being discussed too but he's overpriced without some sort of salary relief from the Phillies.

Hated Victorino for those series against the Dodgers in the playoffs. He better not suck!

Oh the joys of being at Dodger Stadium and the blissful silence that comes after a Chris Johnson grand slam...

    John Gambadoro ‏@Gambo620
Sources telling me that Justin Upton will NOT be traded today by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
no idea what to think at this point but King Felix would be pretty, pretty good.

That must have been fun. Walking Montero to get to him only sweetened the deal.

No kidding. Hopefully we don't give up too much if this ends up happening. I'm not convinced we need to make any big moves though, honestly.

EDIT* We are rather deep in certain positions though. Hmmm.

I'm starting a movement (in my own mind at least). All of Dodger Stadium should boo Victorino one last time, for old time's sake, his first at bat. Hearing Dempster is pretty much a done deal now. Wow.

Interesting. I'm hearing the Rangers or Yankees now.

A.J. Burnett is pitching a decent game, with the bottom of the 8th coming up.
