I think the Blue Jays should win the AL East.

Can someone explain to me why the Mets traded Dickey? are they becoming the Kansas City Royals or something?

Because he's 38, coming off of a fluke season, and demanded an extension when they already had him affordably signed for next season. And because they got an A prospect in return.

Yeah with or without Dickey the Mets still would suck this season and not make the playoffs. The value on Dickey is the highest right now so now would be the time to trade him, you know in case if he starts to suck again and his value goes way down. That and throw in what Miroir Noir said.

So this has nothing to do with, say, Fred Wilpon's close buddy Bernie Madoff?

All that's missing is a bottle of firewater pouring endlessly into the Injun's open mouth.

Overall, though, these (non-Bravos) caps are less terrible than last year's models.

It sux, but, the BBWAA will more than make up for it next year with Maddux, Glavine, Big Hurt, and possibly Piazza/Biggio going in.

Good read. I definitely agree that the 10 player limit is completely arbitrary and needs to be revised. Eventually the writers will get over this ridiculous he-said, she-said witch hunt, and realize that without any concrete facts (save for Bonds and McGwire), the numbers can't be ignored and Clemens, Piazza, Bagwell etc will get inducted. It's just a shame that un-tarnished players like Biggio, Murphy, Raines, and Lee Smith have to get punished as a result of empty protest ballots. With that being said, the instant Bonds and McGwire get inducted, Pete Rose needs to be reinstated.

Biggio should be a lock next year. It's ridiculous he didn't get in this year.

I'm not a big fan of putting him in, but if you put his stats up against someone like "Pudge" Rodriguez, who is a SURE FIRE 1st ballot HOF'er, he compares quite favorably, and if he could have stayed healthy for 5 more seasons, we most certainly would have seen a 3000 hit, 550+ HR guy, that being said, he didn't and nobody gets rewarded on what they could have accomplished, so I doubt if he'll ever make it.

I hate the World Baseball Classic so much. Actually, mostly I just hate when players from the team I root for compete in it.

Wow Team USA looks horrible. The only good thing about this tournament is it gives foreign players some extra exposure to the major league organizations, besides that it's only about the money

    Two questions:

    1. whose infield would you rather have Venezuela or Dominican Republic?
    2. how does Mexico think Karim Garcia is going to man the entire outfield by himself?

Baseball with a short series, anything can happen. I like Venezula personally. They've got the best starter in this thing.

If this were worth caring about more, I'd be all kinds of frustrated that Verlander and Kershaw are sitting out.

    Yup. Kershaw needs the rest.

So wait, what's that about Dodgers? Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Luis Cruz, Nick Punto, Ronald Belisario and Paco Rodriguez all out there. And rest assured that, if they weren't coming off injuries, Kershaw and Carl Crawford would be out there too. And probably John Broxton.
