That felt like a really huge win for the snakes. Showed a lot of the fight that they've been lacking.

Verlander 6 outs away from another No Hitter against the Pirates.

Make that 3 outs, after striking out the side in the 8th.

On another note, 2nd start out of retirement Pettitte has gone 8 IP, 0 runs, 4 hits against the Reds...Impressive.

I love Justin Verlander. As much as any guy playing the game who isn't on my team.

On a goofy curveball. Man, he needed that one if he was going to give Ryan a run for immortality.

what a lucky break for the braves. with the bases loaded, pena gets the last out after being hit by the ball as a baserunner. fluke play. at least the broadcasters told me how to score it

It is great to see the Dodgers winning without Matt Kemp, and tonight with barely any of their normal starting rotation. This has been the most entertainment I've gotten out of a season thus far as a baseball fan.

Yes Tom, it's a long game. But these two months have been great to us, and it's quite a bit of fun to watch it.

Hell yes... my thoughts exactly, Bryan. I'm still in disbelief though. Part of me is waiting for the honeymoon to end even though I don't want it to.

I'm watching this Brewers/Dodgers game on MLB Network right now simply because I enjoy hearing Vin Scully call a game. You Dodger fans are lucky to have had 62 years and going of this.

Johan Santana is going in to the 9th with a no hitter going! The Mets have never had a no hitter in franchise history, 8019 games.

Carlos Beltran got a hit off of him that was incorrectly called a foul ball. Takes some of the shine off of it for me. Still a great performance.

Bard to Pawtucket. As a Yankees fan, I'm fine with his all-too-predictable self-immolation (particularly when it leads to opposing pitchers throwing at Kevin Youkilis' head), but as a baseball fan, I really wish GMs would stop thinking that every young arm is John Smoltz and can just switch between being an ace starter and a lockdown reliever.

Speaking of Youkilis, I don't understand why the Sox would sell him at this point, or why there is chatter about it. They're 3 games out, Baseball Prospectus still has them at over 50% odds of making the playoffs, and the guy is a folk hero to the fanbase. It's not like they're going to get a haul of prospects for him, or that John Henry really needs to find a way to shave a few million of the 2012 payroll. They've got a team option for next year and a stud prospect? Great, take care of it in the offseason.

I was afraid when they decided to make Bard a starter that it might turn into a Joba Chamberlain type fiasco. As for Youkilis, they just have a logjam at the corner positions. Will Middlebrooks is a better defender and far less injury prone. Unless someone gets injured before the trade deadline the Red Sox will trade Youkilis. Nomar was a folk hero in Boston as well, and trading him won the Sox a championship.

Quite an exciting comeback in the 6th for SF. I left the pub mid 9th. Not sure why I didn't stick around to finish the game.

I haven't been watching much baseball since I moved out here 2 years ago, but I noticed that Melky doesn't really do his pelvic thrusts anymore when he's up to bat. That made me sad.

for being this tough, bigleague player “Youk” sure has the most pansy batting stance I’ve ever seen. Those hip circles and bum movement. 1:50 here (the Papi one is funny too running sideways out of the box)
