My question for this thread is about what kind of people you all end up dating - at least when it comes to superficial things like taste in art/culture etc. Do you date opposites or carbon copies. Something I wouldn't choose but could tolerate, and an opinion about (music / art / whatever) that I can respect. I realize that's very vague but I think it comes down to having a passion about it, rather than having bland opinions/taste.

Yes. My friend/would-be-boyfriend in Florida is really into death metal and grew up on shitty pop punk, but he's really passionate about it and is discerning and doesn't just listen to garbage, even if it's mostly stuff that I wouldn't choose to listen to in my own free time. And we have a little bit of overlap. Every so often we try to take some influence from each others tastes. Still, I'd really like to eventually date someone I can get sweaty on the dancefloor with.
