Where to get camping supplies in Las Vegas NV?

We are bringing a couple of tents from the UK but want to buy everything else once we arrive in LV.

We will need:

50qt cool box
A Shade/ gazebo of some kind
Sleeping bags
Air beds or cots
Flashlight

Plates/ cups/ cutlery etc

And the usual requirements such as baby wipes, advil, plasters, suncream etc.

The only place I have found all of these things at a decent prices is Walmart and really don't want to shop there.


Everything will be getting left behind so the cheaper the better and I don't mind buying online and getting stuff shipped to store just before we arrive.

REI is the only dedicated camp store I have found and it is really expensive.

Any help would be appreciated (& before you ask I have looked at the campsite deals thread etc)

If you want to avoid Walmart, there's an REI in Vegas. It won't be as cheap but they'll have higher quality gear.

In all honesty Walmart, Kmart or Target are probably the best for buying all you mentioned at a reasonable price that you won't feel bad about leaving for donation after one weekend of use on the polo fields anyways. No one will remember you were physically in the store, so who gives a shit where you get it right? Although I support your desires to spend your hard earned $ in my town, it might make more sense to shop for said items at the same stores in Indio or La Quinta. Less weight to haul 300 miles, better gas mileage & all.

Good point but we will have 150kg of luggage that will have been shipped over 5 thousand miles anyway

And what is the likelihood of any camping supplies being found in Indio/ La Quinta on the thursday 19th?


I've already made my shopping list on walmart ready to be paid for. I don't think I could handle the stress of just rocking up to a store to chance it.

You can rent from REI. itll be way cheaper and not a waste of perfectly good gear. Every year I score free gear on Monday because people leave so much good stuff behind!

Go to Bass Pro Shops at the Silverton hotel, the place has everything.

Before I went to Walmart or any of the places already listed I would go to Big Lots, Dollar Tree, and the. 99¢ Store. Dollar Tree and Big Lots are located across from the Silverton Casino on Highway 160 Blue Diamond heading South out of town toward Coachella.

Been doing a yearly visit to the Salvation Army store right before the festival every year now too. No use getting my nice clothes all thrashed & dirtied when I can spend a whole $20 on 5-10 shirts & tank tops and 5 pairs of board shorts too.

I get it though, coming from the UK, your newly converted pounds to US dollars are already quite a steal.

Im in vegas too and I have a shit load of air mattresses, sleeping bags, and a few extra tents in my attic. (I tend to scavenge the campground on Monday after the festival each year)

Ill sell em to ya for cheap. $5/each mattress/bag/air pump. $20 for a big ass tent

I like a trip to the thrift store as much as the next guy but it's 3 days at Coachella on a grassy polo field... it's not exactly a trip to the Middle East. Not sure what kind of festival activities you're into to get clothes "thrashed and dirtied" to the point you need to buy special used clothes. Been 5 times and it's nothing a washing machine can't take care of once you get home.

^You must have missed ODAAL last year, or at least the nice pit action. Typically not a lot of thrash music at Coachella, but I have come home with a few torn shirts or three. Grass stains from slip n sliding don't help either...

There's also a Target next to Big Lots on Rt. 160 on Blue Diamond Rd. across from BASS PRO SHOPS...BASS is a little more expensive, but does have EVERYTHING...Walmart or BIG 5 has everything too...

Honestly, REI is a ripoff. Target isn't bad.

I used WalMart last year. I was flying in from the east coast, it was $25 to check a tent each way. I ended up buying a tent and a bunch of other supplies on walmart.com and doing the "ship to store" thing. I picked a walmart near san diego airport. Right after I got my rent a car I went straight to walmart and my order was there waiting. My 10 x 13 tent only costed me $40, not bad. and with walmart, they have a bunch of camping supplies on there website that they do not have in the store, so there is a huge variety of supplies to choose from.

Honestly I buy all my mountain climbing stuff at Walmart now. Their rope is so much cheaper.
