It always sucks because they have the ACC and big east champs go at it. They also just signed an extension to keep that match up going.

Bowl projections. (cause im being more realistic than espn wants to be)

    Title - Alabama vs Florida
Orange - Florida State vs Rutgers
    Sugar - Oregon vs Oklahoma
Fiesta - Kansas St vs Notre Dame
    Rose - Stanford vs Nebraska

You are predicting ND to lose to Barkley-less, 4-loss USC this weekend?

After seeing them struggle at home against a shitty Pitt team, nothing would surprise me.

Yeah, I also saw them play against Purdue and BYU. The point is, it wouldn't be shocking if USC won. Even without Barkley. Though, I think his prediction is most certainly rooted in homerism.

You are overestimating USC. They really are not very good. Their biggest win was against Washington. Other wins are Arizona St, Syracuse, Hawaii, Cal, Utah, and Colorado, none of whom are very good at all.

They're a lot better than Pitt.

Are you understanding what I'm saying at all? I'm not predicting USC to win, but it wouldn't surprise me.

No, they are not "a lot better" than Pitt. Pitt is a 2-point favorite against Orange Bowl-bound Rutgers this weekend. Syracuse beat Pitt by 1 point. ASU is about the same. Utah, Cal, and Colorado are all worse.

Yes, using comparative scores works perfectly in sports. My own eyes tell me USC is a lot better than Pitt. I don't care what the always-reliable transitive property says.

I'm pretty sure USC has only beat one team with a winning record this year, but if i'm wrong then it's two. However with no Barkley it still is a rivalry game and especially with the loss to UCLA I expect SC to come out firing. Now I think ND game is going to win but still should be a good game.

I misread your post, I thought you were saying the teams USC has beaten are a lot better than Pitt. USC itself is a lot better than Pitt, I agree. Which would be relevant if USC were playing Pitt this weekend.

Pretty excited for this Friday. If Arizona can beat ASU, that puts Rodriguez at 8-4 in his first year as head coach. That's a pretty successful first season when not many people expected them to win more than 4-6 games heading into the campaign.

The whole point is that I've seen Notre Dame struggle to beat teams that are worse than USC. A couple of those games (BYU and Pitt) even happened at Notre Dame. So I don't see why it would be a shock if they lost at USC. Even without Barkley, they have a 4-star guy with talent backing him up.

But supre is definitely a homer, so that was probably the reason behind his pick.

I'll say this much: as a Notre Dame fan, I'm not looking past this Saturday. I've seen enough of Traveler and that goddamn marching band over the last decade that I'm not counting on anything yet.

    I feel confident but cautious.

Yes it is. If ND had beaten Pitt handily, rather than in a close OT game, then you would not have brought them up.

As a Bruin and a Nebraska fan by association I would love to see a Rose Bowl re-match as I had tickets to the September game and couldn't go. It doesn't seem all that likely. I'll probably go even if Nebraska makes it, just for the hell of it.

Pitt had Notre Dame dead to rights at home. The fact that the Irish were able to pull that game out of their arse's speaks to their character, not the other way around. That was their most impressive win of the season and I don't think that Pitt's record takes anything away from that. The Irish played like shit for the first 3 quarters of that game and still found a way to win. My eyes tell me that Oklahoma, Stanford and Michigan are better than USC. It's easy to look at an entire season and cherry pick the games where ND struggled, but the fact is it's damn hard to win 11 games in a row in college football and there's bound to be some close calls with teams that were clearly inferior. Right now there is no pressure on USC to win this game, which I'm sure Brian Kelly is fully aware of. If we play our best game I don't think SC can hang. We'll see.

In all fairness, I cherry-picked that game as a response to Tom cherry-picking the Oklahoma game. Chain of conversation and whatnot.

I can also explain the lackluster performance in the BYU game, having witnessed it in person: human statute Tommy Rees played QB the entire game.

I hear ya. In any case I've been waiting my entire adult life for the Irish to be in this position. I've got pretty decent seats to the game next week and I can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

Indeed. Golson is our wild card. When he plays well we're nearly unstoppable. In an ideal world Tommy would never take another snap the whole season.

Its more that I want to spit in Mike Golic's fat face because he is the only reason espn is sucking off the irish hook, line and sinker this season. Nobody is lookign at the possibility that an all SEC title game could happen cause this coming weekend is supposedly such a ''lock''.

Anyone think its totally unreasonable that USC wins and Florida beats Florida St this week? Alabama beats Gerogia in Atlanta on Dec 1st, then Florida St beats Clemson in the ACC title game. Oregon gets fucked due to not having the Pac 12 championship game to strengthen their numbers, Georgia drops, Notre Dame drops twice due to being idle the final week, and Florida will have enough strength computer ranking wise right at the end to jump to #2. They are ranked # 2 in all but 1 computer poll, that will be enough with the win vs FSU and FSU beating Clemson.
