how's new mexico doing. Still sucking ass?
Yeah they suck, but they look a little better than they have in the 3 seasons prior to this. They beat Southern and New Mexico State, and lost to Texas and Texas Tech. They're losing to Boise State right now. They're still not that good, but at least they're showing a lot of improvement and have a better coach.
Well, South Carolina or Georgia are going to end up in the top 3 after today.
The Northwestern Wildcats lost to the Penn State Child Molesters. This is a very sad day.

Man what a great Saturday for CFB.
Wow, Stanford got hosed. The RB wasn't down and the ball was clearly over the line.

Assuming he did get over the line -- and I'd argue it wasn't conclusive upon review -- he didn't have control and the whistle blew. It's hard to claim you were jobbed when you run the same play for three straight downs and can't get a yard out of it.
He lost the ball after it crossed the line. If they blew the whistle before it crossed the play wouldn't have been reviewable. At least that's what the commentators said.
Not really. Shouldn't overlook a questionable call simply because Stanford took x amount of plays to score a touchdown.

Shame on you. The guy wriggled around for at least 3 seconds and made no forward progress, then reached out and fumbled as he extended his arm across the goal line. That was a Herculean effort by the Irish and the Cardinal got straight up beat. I'm glad the officials got it right.
Yes to all of this. THE IRISH ARE BACK (I've been waiting over 2/3 of my life to say that.) If there's any justice in college football, and there isn't much, Manti Te'o will join Charles Woodson as the only defensive players to win the Heisman.

No it doesn't excuse a bad call, if in fact there were a bad call. I'm just pointing out how tiresome it is to hear "screw job!" -- as if some great moral injustice was done -- when a team has put themselves in the position of asking the referees to bail themselves out of their situation in the first place.
Have the blogs and Twitter been blowing up, arguing this a bad call? I'm far from objective, obviously, but this didn't even seem like a marginal call to me. I watched that video half a dozen times and I didn't see anything conclusive to justify overturning the call, even without the benefit of having the whistle synced up.
Of course it's tiresome when your team is on the winning end of it. I don't care about Stanford or Notre Dame. I just think a questionable game deciding call shouldn't be dismissed simply because Stanford didn't put themselves in the best position to win. I'll look at the replay again, but I thought he crossed the line.

Fair enough. Notre Dame won. Like I said, I have no dog in this fight. I just hate the argument Mitch is making regarding game deciding calls/getting in position to win.
EDIT* Obviously a team could do a better job so a ref doesn't have the power to decide a game. I just think a bad call is a bad call (not talking about this game specifically, just sports in general).

Ha! Fair enough, Gribbz, though I will confess I thought ND fans who lost their minds over the Bush Push play were missing the point.
Right. Isn't this why Hochuli Jr specifically said there was not a celebration penalty on the play -- because the players heard the whistle and believed the game was over?
Yeah, and Kelly confirmed that in his post-game interview. It was close, no doubt, but how could it not be from the one yard line? I drank three cups of coffee during the game and that proved to be a serious mistake. I'm surprised my heart survived overtime. There's a reason beer and football are a match made in heaven. Lesson learned.

If we're to believe the NCAA that play never even happened. There were 21 amateur players on the field and one paid professional pushing his quarterback into the end zone. I still feel like USC won that game because I get mad every time I think about it, but what do I know about rewriting history?
