I think the first version I had of this day was more realistic. I won't be at all surprised if the main and outdoor end up being pretty staggered. And if there are only 3 acts on the outdoor after 7. At least there's no argument about who will be in the sahara, lol. thank god.

I'm just giving up hope for Friday Night, I'm going to have to miss at least one must see for me that night if this schedule was true, Tobin v Rapture v Black Angels blows. The only thing I can think of for the Madness and Black Keys conflict would be to put Madness in the Arctic Monkeys spot (mirroring The Specials' slot which seems to be a popular for some reason) and then moving M83 and Explosions in The Sky up and sticking AM where EITS used to be, giving M83 the conflict, something I can live with.

I kinda like this version a bit more except there's probably no way Atari Teenage Riot is playing in the Gobi. People will die if that is the case

Atari Teenage Riot will for sure be in the Gobi. People survived Lightning Bolt last year. This year will be no different.

Also, guys, do you forget how brutal the end of the night Friday of last year was? Chemical Bros. vs Flogging Molly vs Gayngs vs Scala vs Boys Noize? I wanted to see all 5 of those acts. That sucked. I expect Friday night this year to be the same.

I would enjoy this, Refused is gonna be so fucking loud that they're bound to be heard in the Sahara

Well just look at how the schedule usually looks in years when Friday has fewer acts than Sat or Sun (ie. 2007, 2008) keeping in mind this year the difference is (currently) only three. This sort of thing is not atypical.

With fewer acts Friday they will more likely have several stages start late (1:30 or 2:00 start on all stages except Sahara and one other) and pack in the night-time acts as tightly as possible with 25 minutes setup time between acts (except DJs)... With a lot of people coming from LA after work on Friday (and pretty much everybody getting to Coachella far later than planned, plus wait times in traffic/searches/etc...) a lot of people will show up late, so they will want to pack the nighttime acts as tightly as possible to maximize coverage (average number of bands each person gets to see on Friday, keeping in mind a high proportion of late-comers).

Agreed, with the Refused idea. They don't HAVE to play late. Mazzy Star will be on late on the Outdoor stage like PJ Harvey. Amon Tobin closing the Mojave. M83 will also be in the Mojave and it will be way to crowded ala Ratatat/ Cut Copy. The communal vibe for Cut Copy was unreal last year and I don't really see it touching that. I really hope SHM stays in the Sahara, but I know there is a very real possibility they will go Main and that makes me sad.

Other than that everything looks pretty good. Just my thoughts, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Feed Me has a new set up that would only be suitable for a nighttime slot, but he just confirmed he'll be going on during the day:

    nice find!

on James' facebook page, they made an event for both dates at 3pm - kind of an odd time, but since they put 7pm on a festival in Rio, perhaps it's their actual set time?

Has anyone noticed that Amon Tobin's set on the lineup page says "Amon Tobin: ISAM Live"? That leads me to believe it probably won't be in the Sahara, more like an outdoor theater closer.

James's facebook page says they'll be playing at 3pm - anyone seen this yet?

I know it may not be particularly relevant, but over the last several years at all other festivals they have been at they played mid afternoon on the main stage

I brought this up awhile ago, but they all seem to think that the MASSIVE ISAM structure will fit in the Sahara since the Shpongletron & Daft Punk Pyramid did, I'm not so sure tho... I'd love to see that on a bigger stage, but a tent might be a better place for ISAM to get the full effect. Either way I'm fine with, just as long as he doesn't conflict with Refused I'll be happy.

Awesome job doing this day. Switching M Ward and Explosions is a good call.

Wu Lyf vs. Girls kinda sucks but I could see that being a conflict.

Would nobody really play on the main stage until 2:45? That seems late to me.

So AMon in the Mojave then? Who would close the Sahara Against the Sweedish? This could be kind of a long-shot but maybe the Rapture to close the Sahara?

This is less likely to happen than Amon. If The Rapture was closing aa stage, it would be the Mojave. Not saying they are, but it definitely wouldn't be The Rapture closing the Sahara while Amon closed Mojave. It seems more realistic the other way around.
