I know right? I'm staying in a hotel this year so I hope it doesn't take hours to get in and out of the lots

Tent Camping gets a car lot? I thought if you chose to tent camp you would need to buy a companion spot if you still had your car?

I am day parking so I am slightly alarmed if this is less than previous years. Wasn't parking pretty easy last year? (I don't know; I didn't go)

i highly recommend the shuttle, the tennis garden area has TONS and TONS of parking, shuttle wait was never more then 10 minutes for me last year..

Nope. Per the website, each tent camping spot includes a spot to park your car "Each tent camping spot comes with ONE overnight tent camping parking spot." And then in the Companion Parking section "The Camping Companion Parking space is for 1 extra car of people who are staying in your camping spot but need a place to park their car overnight."
    http://www.coachella.com/travel-lodg...camping#c-tab3

Thus, no, you did not need to buy a seperate companion spot unless you are having 2 cars.

Those doing day parking.. seriously do the shuttle from the Tennis Garden. It's basically day parking 6 miles from the festival without any wait whatsoever.

The one thing we need to take into consideration is that these maps have never been representative of the actual size of the location. I don't know why they insist on reusing this out of proportion base map, but I have once again overlaid the map elements onto a Google maps image to get a better perspective. The day parking issue seems to be taken care of by the new lot 2a, Day and Companion parking area, which is much bigger than Lot 16, which is no longer on the map. Lot 7 certainly seems to add significantly more car camping as well. This is my guess, and not official.

So glad I don't have to drive to palm desert this year.

It's hard to see with all the halos and fractals layering over reality.
I am always the weirdest and I always drive.

    Coachella camping saved your life.

I agree, I did the shuttle last year, it was really easy and underutilized.

VIP parking last year was awesome (best yet.) We were out of the polo fields after the headliners closed and on our way to In-n-Out in less than a half-hour. Glad to see a similar set up this year....

Last year day parking wasn't bad at all. We left our hotel in Palm Desert at about 1:30 everyday and inside the festival by 2:00 at the latest. Getting out wasn't bad at all either, maybe 20 mins.

It might be time to start charging the drive-yourself-in elitist types.

Anyone else having problems viewing the main coachella.com site? I can't get to the maps in large size because my computer is showing it all f***ed up. Worked when it went on sale, but now it doesn't. Had this with one other site, so I assume it's my computer, but no idea how to fix. Grrr. Can anyone post the link for JUST the map?

Semi off-topic: Are those bars (Tack Room and The Date Shed) open during the festival? Might fun to walk to if the "shanty town" campsite gets a little overwhelming

Anyone know if you can park at the shadow hills rv lot and shuttle in? that would be closer to where I am staying, or else I would have to park at the Tennis Center

Of course the year I switch to car camping they move the tent camping back near the entrance. Last year in tent camping we had to walk a freaking mile to the entrance we were the furthest lot from the entrance even the cops horse stables were closer LOL

I am also having problems viewing it normally.

The google satellite view of the tent camping area makes it look like its dirt and not grass. Who knows, though, either its a trick of the camera or they could have planted grass since that image was taken.

They haven't specified that yet. Could be staging area for car camping groups or could be something else entirely. We'll have to just wait and see at this point...

2A is actually about half the size of that square. If you look closely, the line running from the bottom left to top right is the canal.

Used Lot 16 (corner of Monroe and 52nd) for the past 2 years and it was fast in/out, although a long ass walk to the polo fields.
