but for now chew on this.... a new beginning.

New Build, the collaboration between LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahoney and Hot Chip’s Al Doyle and Felix Martin have announced a pending full-length release and tour this spring. The album, entitled Yesterday Was Lived & Lost, is described as a dance record, with ”the eccentricities of artists such as the Human League, Peter Gabriel, Robert Wyatt, Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire and Eno.” It will show itself on Mar. 5 via Lanark Records. The group will hit the road as an eight-piece unit—we hope with Nancy Wang and Tyler Pope—this spring.

The group released their second, “Do You Feel Loved,” last month, with remixes from Dominik Eulberg and Juju & Jordash. You can hear all three versions and peep the tracklist after the jump.

DFA2306: The Rapture - Sail Away Remixes

The Rapture's follow-up to their year end list topping hit, "How Deep Is Your Love?" has been the subject of a recent remix package. Aeroplane, Cut Copy, and Cosmic Kids round out the trio, available now digitally and shortly on a limited-to-300, hand-stamped white label vinyl.

Does anyone have the DFA remixes Chapter 2? If so, would you be willing to share it with me? Chapter 1 is excellent.

I don't really get your hatred of DFA/LCD/whatever. Is it because they're overexposed? Populist? Most of these guys are true believers with incredible tastes and really good songwriting skills. They may have peaked a few years back, but they're still putting out good records, unearthing past classic to reissue, and generally making the world a much funner place in which to live.

Video: James Murphy, Trapped Between Two Terrible, Hilarious, Aging Hipsters in a Taxi

DFA Records’ co-founder and retired LCD Soundsystem bandleader James Murphy has always exhibited a certain stripe of self-awareness that other musicians could probably take lessons from. In one of two films to feature Mr. Murphy at this year’s Sundance Film Festival—the other one being the documentary about his band’s final concert—he has a cameo role as a guy stuck between two obnoxious, aging hipsters in a taxi.

Via Pitchfork— naturally—upcoming feature The Comedy is about someone who “whiles away his days with a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters, engaging in acts of recreational cruelty and pacified boredom.” In the following scene, Mr. Murphy is trapped in a taxi with two of the worst people alive, made even worse by the probability that these “characters” actually exist.

    The clip:

    hahaha yes it worked

haha, aside from the first post the majority of writing has been taken from articles. Not to mention this was supposed to be an introduction for a lot of people who might know some of the artists but not know of the label itself. And your doing exactly what this thread is supposed to, so thank you.... educate the masses. Post some videos.

it was a photo of a steaming pile of shit, in reference to how he feels about the label and artists. Hes gone out of his way numerous times to express his feelings but w/ no real justification.
