Just a thought. But, what if they announced a lineup with less band initially, because those are all of the artists playing both weekends. Maybe they will add different bands to each weekend from this point forward.
I think there are legitimate reasons there could be adds or a second "stage" of lineup releases, but please note before the e-tards and Monklish blog posters run with these that I do not believe they will actually happen in a million years.
1) They booked two "fantasy" headliners (Radiohead and Daft Punk/Bowie/Smiths/the ghost of Tupac Shakur/Beatles with Rome) and wanted to test the drawing power of a two week festival with just one strong headliner before announcing the other.
2) They feel genuinely guilty or bad for the negative reaction to the Sahara by 20% of the attendees (because let's face it, the other 80% luv the plur the Sahara is bringing this year or don't care about the Sahara anyway) and are adding a couple Sahara acts, but this is less likely since Sebastian was moved back to Friday and thus the Friday Sahara "hole" has been filled again.
3) They are nailing down contract details for a couple major acts that couldn't be ready by lineup release.
4) Flush with cash and an already strong buzz for the lineup (outside of Sahara purists, let's be honest, this is one of the strongest lineups in some time) they want to add a couple other subheadliner level acts just to cement this year as the year Coachella emerged as the clear king of American festivals.
Nothing will happen January 30th, adds are unlikely, but I don't agree with the reasoning that there is no reason to have adds after it sold out. I'm just not expecting them.
Well, Florence + The Machine collab'd with The Creators Project on Ceremonials.
A Creators Project announcement seems to be possible.

Also, in October 2011 saw Florence Welch visit New York for a special showcase of Ceremonials for The Creators Project. As she prepared for the concert she was filmed by director Tabitha Denholm for her latest "Flo inspired" short film.\
Good news. I was afraid that they forgot to book Tiesto.
NEGATIVE BACKLASH EDM ANNOUNCEMENT INEVITABLE.

It's true. My friend who's sister's uncle's college roommate's adopted daughter's cousin's dad works at Goldenvoice and said Daft Punk was being added on January 30th. It's definitely legit.
If GV added someone big at this point it would just be an investment to keep the "anything's possible" mentality alive for years. People still constantly talk about Prince and that happened 4 years ago. If they added someone huge (even if it wasn't as notable as Prince) after two weekends sold out almost immediately, it would draw a lot of attention and people would be speculating about late-adds for years to come. A lot of people who felt underwhelmed by future lineups would buy tickets anyway with the hope that there could be a crazy addition to the poster.
I don't think it would necessarily have to be amazing to everyone to get the job done. It would just need to be someone notable. Imagine if Guetta, Dre and Snoop, or Refused weren't on the lineup, and got added later on. A ton of people wouldn't care for this year because they don't enjoy those specific artists, but they are popular enough names that it would give people hope in future years that someone the do like could always be added onto the poster.
Historically, anything's possible.
