Calvin Harris!!! v. Pew pew pew

My girlfriend and I were totally looking forward to his set, but all the talk on this thread has me a little nervous. At least now I can expect it to be mediocre that way I'm not givin' all my hopes up. It's a shame too, "Feel So Close" would be such an amazing song live at Coachella. I think it'd totally fit the atmosphere.

IF his set time does not conflict with Florence & the Machine, I MIGHT go see him. But he's a regular out here in Sin City, so no biggie if I miss him at Coachella.

Seeing him as a dj is a TOTALLY diff experience. I had so much fun when I saw him at Beyond Wonderland 2011. Everyone was super pumped and dancing uncontrollably, but I understand how Coachella might be different from an immersive rave environment. Awooga may not be one his best songs in comparison to You Used to Hold Me, Feel so Close, and Flashback to name a few... but it succeeds in getting the FUCKING PARTY STARTED! I've never seen his live sets but he was NOT a disappointment as a DJ (well at least to me)... but I'm a complete electrohead soooo yeah. haha

It was my dream to see Calvin perform live. I remember when his album first came out and I listened to it, and I also remember when Ready for the Weekend came out and I so desperately wanted to see him live. Unfortunately I never had that chance. My first time seeing him was that same set, and I had a good time, but I couldn't help but say it was disappointing. He never plays songs off of I Created Disco and it is sad. I've posted on this forum a million times about this and I will never stop beating this dead horse.

Calvin's set in 08 was one of the most fun sets I have ever seen at Coachella. It was a relatively small crowd in the Mojave I believe. Calvin and the band were playing all the tracks from I Created Disco and it was an absolute dance party with tons of chicks. I agree with the majority of you though, I have seen a few DJ sets since then and none of them were anything special. Every time it's overplayed house tracks, shit from Ready For The Weekend, and few good tracks. Having said that, I Created Disco is one of my favorite albums of all time and even though he won't play much of it, if any, I just rarely leave the Sahara at night.

Actually unfixed ^^^^ He didn't play ANY of I created Disco. He probably played flashback remix and I'm not alone and You Used to hold me. So thats hardly any ready for the weekend.

I saw him in SF and my sentiments would echo pretty much what everyone else is saying here. Except it was even worse than that. This dude is a terrible DJ. SUCKS BALLS. So disappointing I didn't get to see him when he was singing and having a band perform the 'I Created Disco' album. That album really is a classic, but that Awooga song is so bad, it makes me want to gag. I hate to say it, but I will avoid at all costs...why Calvin? Why??

Plus I heard he hates Southern California for some reason and always plays like shit here.

Saw him last year at the music box and it was a good show. Nothing life changing but definitely a good time. Played his hits and a bunch of random good shit. Add in the wonderful coachella setting and I'm sure it will be ok. So sick of people complaining about all the sahara dj's. Yes it isn't ideal but it will be fun. Grab a beer and have a good time.
