HEALTH at the Smell is intense. They never used to have crowds in the main room of the Smell when they'd play because they were so loud. People would always watch with a safe distance. I think you can pick me out in the HEALTH section of the Live at the Smell DVD.

chain reaction is a terrible all ages venue that doesn't serve alcohol, employs washed up shithead security guards, and has absolutely no bars nearby. the only thing it has going for it is nostalgia.

Dan Deacon played at the Pehrspace in Glendale a couple days after FYF, it was announced the day of and was super awesome despite me almost being stabbed by a homeless person before the show.

perhaps. it used to be a fun place when they would consistently book great bands for $8-10, but the majority of the bands they book now are terrible. this is in addition to the lack of fun things to do in the area. different strokes i guess.

Chain Reaction strictly as a music venue is fine, but absolutely nothing special unless it's one of those "big bands in a tiny venue" type of deals. The Showcase in Corona, now THAT place sucks!

Chain Reaction is okay. The last time I was there was over 3 years ago, seeing Recover. The venue was fine but nothing special, plus it's in Anaheim.

If CR wasn't your first local venue while growing up, you have no idea the issues that place carried. OC's premiere high school venue, scenesters up the wazooo, a terrible layout (what the fuck is that border wall there for? to clog up the floor?), the dirtiest alley for smoking cigarettes and injecting heroin. And of course to top it all off - its in orange county.
