Cool that you held a meeting, I guess it was impromptu? (no post about it here beforehand)

Yeah, we met up at my place before heading over to the House of Blues before D'Angelo, and both of them brought some records. I've got a ton, so we listened to music and drank some beers that getbetter and I had.
Is it really a meeting though without a formal announcement? Shame on you 3 board elitist.

To be fair this thread did start on an elitist premise (just look at the title). This is only fitting.

Well I got this today

Expect I only have three bottles and the vinyl.I might go buy the "party in a box" but we have to have someone buy/cook at least one of the recipes.Dogfish Head, which prides itself on "off-centered ales for off-centered people" is releasing its newest beer on June 18: Positive Contact. This isn't just any beer though. This is a "house party in a box," according to Dogfish Head's Sam Calagione. That means that with a six-pack of the 750mL beer, you also get a vinyl record with tunes from Deltron 3030, and five beer-inspired recipes from the likes of Mario Batali, David Chang and more.
The ale is brewed with Fuji apple cider, farro, cayenne and fresh cilantro. It was a big hit at Huffington Post HQ, thanks to it's balanced sweetness level and mild herbal undertones. Its nine percent ABV does hit you though -- this is most definitely not a chugging beer.
To understand how Dogfish Head comes up with its funky brews, make sure to check out the week-in-the-life diary of the company's lead brewer, Ben Potts. To learn more about Positive Contact specifically, check out this clip below (remixed by Deltron 3030, natch) and the comic that explains how this beer came about.

Meetup option?

Are you seriously going to call 3 people who are already friends getting together before a show without telling anyone else... a meeting?
greghead is just being magnanimous. It was not a meeting. Try again, LA.
PS: Isn't it just typical of LA people to talk a lot about getting together with people and then constantly flake and come up with excuses why they're too busy?![]()
Oh, you know I'm teasing you. Suspect you'll make it to a Bay Area meeting before the LA group has one...![]()
You guys have a hard time understanding sarcasm, don't you?
Get off the internet and go have a record club meeting.

We're all too busy living LA life, to properly schedule a meeting, when it works for us, it will work for us. Chances are it will just turn into a coke party.

No way! I meant it. The first record club meeting was me and Cara getting stoned, listening to the Grateful Dead, and eating tacos. I mean, the only folks that show up to BARC is the same group of friends that existed before BARC, so it isn't like we're doing anything all that different (Plus, they went and saw fucking D'Angelo afterwards, for the fucking win!). But I love hosting people, so I push for meetings and set dates to ensure that you all come over and let me serve you food & drink
Yes. Mostly because we are.
Go Dodgers!
I wrote that before going to the Bar this morning. You can imagine the mood I was in. Especially considering, sans bar, the LA record club would be blowing up like none other. Zach and Chris will attest to the fact that, even with three of us, there was some great stuff there. I can't wait til mid August when I'm finally able to host.
And with that:
August 18? Anyone have any opposition to that? Either that or the 17th. If we do the 17th, it should be earlier so we can walk to Hangover and do all-you-can-drink beer for $20.
Where at? Your place?
