I once bought a flat or water for 3 dollars at a ran down gas station in Nashville and some black dude came out of the back, grabbed my flat of water and brought it to my car and didn't even wait for a tip. I didn't run into a single asshole there and this message board is crawling with them.

This is a really lovely anecdote, thank you for sharing. Most run down gas stations I go to are crawling with assholes so it's refreshing to know that some exist with people with impeccable manors.

All im saying is that it seems slightly improbable that you can get over 100 bands to be in the same spot for over a week, regardless of there being a contract or not. Im not talking about the contract. Im just questioning and was wondering if there was anything in wording that every band will be there, or if there was any wording saying there was a band that couldn't make it both weekends.

and all of us don't understand why it would be a problem. bands go on multi-city, multi-month tours all the time and never miss a single show. how is this any different? because they may sit around and relax for a week in between? how would that affect their ability to play the second weekend? also, tours are routed months and months in advance, so even if the play weekend 1 they would have no problem playing up in northern calfornia, or nevada, or arizona and then circling back to the desert for weekend 2. this isn't rocket surgery.

i would just like to bump this thread and prove its relevance since there's a possibility of 2 cancellations and that my original question was actually very relevant. I personally think that the possibility for some bands to be at a festival 2 weekends in a row is quite difficult. Hopefully Cat Power actually hasn't cancelled, she was on my gotta see list.
