I am stoked to see James. They have a lot of very catchy songs from their earlier albums. I wonder if there new songs are good. Nice to see them added, but I wish Coachella would give the Doves another chance after they cancelled some years back.

I went from having never heard of James before to having them in my top 5 must see. So fucking happy Coachella brought them into my life.
Just Like Fred Astaire! Perfect for an afternoon in the desert.
Really excited to see them again!
I remeber when the Poorman on KROQ analyzed the lyrics to "Laid" on an old Loveline episode.
Saw them summer of 2010 at the House of Blues. A very solid show and the vocalist has a great voice and his yodeling is sick!
Always wear a helmut
I was at the HOB Anaheim show. They were very good.
Upcoming shows:
They've sold 25 million records worldwide...I bet you they are the lowest billed artist ever on a line up with 25 million records sold.
Janelle Monae, Spiritualized, Loco Dice, Cloud Nothings, Paul Kalkbrenner, Blur, El-P, Kurt Vile, Nick Cave, Sigur Ros, Moby, Grizzly Bear, The Shouting Matches, Four Tet, Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Savages, Jessie Ware, Booka Shade.
After a couple hiccups in the early 2000s, the last two albums (Hey Ma and The Morning After the Night Before) have been excellent. Folks who only know them from Laid need to check out Sometimes from the Laid album and Tomorrow from Whiplash. Tomorrow will having you pumped from now until Coachella.
Thank you for pointing out their amazing last couple of albums. They are the most underrated band at Coachella this year. I once heard of them referred to as "the best band that noone has ever heard of." Truer words never spoken. I saw them open for the Cure in England in '91, supporting Laid in 90 something and supporting their last two albums more recently and I can honestly say that they put on one of the best live shows I have ever seen.
Amazing band! Great live performers. They are filling a much needed gap in the Coachella line-up this year. Emotional. Inspiring. Sing-a-long-able. Exciting.
Hope they get the crowd they deserve.

Sit Down is in my top 100 (songs of all times). I wish I could just see him perform that and then be on my way...
The crowd is all here, to hear the one song they love

I'm very excited about James. I've only just started listening to them when they had been confirmed via that radio interview. I had listened to that singles compilation a few times, but now I am getting into the actual albums. I am most excited about Pulp, Mazzy Star, and them, so I hope there is no conflict between the three. Also, Madness. Please.
Played Vancouver a couple hours ago. 300-400 people in 1,000 capacity club.
IMO, the shorter set will work to their advantage as there is a higher ratio of "hits" to keep more casual fans interested.
Even a single notable conflict on that busy saturday could mean an intimate crowd where there's more Brits/Aussies than Americans. Just like Suede and Elbow were last year.

So I saw James in like 1992. Whatever year Laid came out. I liked the mesmerizing shit they were doing with Eno, like on "Sometimes".
I had no idea they were an MTV darling and that they had some hit song that thousands of teenage girls loved. Never felt so out of place at a concert in my life.
I was wondering if this was the same "James" from years back. I don't remember anything about the track MTV overplayed except that it bugged the shit out of me. Thanks to this thread, I'm somewhat curious. However, the bad taste in my mouth that still resonates from 20 years ago has caused me to type this rather than click a video.
The Madchester lovin', Britpop fan inside of me is excited to see bands like James and Pulp.
